For people around the world suffering from scars, burns, wounds, and other conditions, industry-leading treatment strategies have their roots right here. Launched in Northbrook in 2004, Newmedical Technology is now re-committing itself to the community by investing in a comprehensive renovation of a 47,000 square foot facility for its new Sky Harbor headquarters.

Brian Millman describes his job simply: “I make people happy.” As president of Shellé Jewelers, a family business now in its third generation, Brian and his team enjoy helping clients select jewelry for their clients’ engagements, weddings, birthdays, and other cherished life events. Their philosophy extends to a commitment to community philanthropy, spreading happiness with their generous support of charities around the North Shore.

Engage Wealth Group may be the Chamber’s first-ever Emerging Business Award recipient, but it is not a story of overnight success. Engage Wealth is the evolution of Ed Gjertsen II’s 30-year career in financial planning, launched in 2020 with the goal of doing things differently.

“You can always say it’s not the right time, but then it will never be the right time.” Neil and Bonnie Goldberg confronted that reality and took the plunge into business ownership at a particularly challenging time when they purchased an existing Nothing Bundt Cakes franchise in 2020. Despite all the obstacles starting a new entrepreneurial career during the pandemic, this husband-and-wife team has persevered to develop a growing base of loyal customers.

The phrase speaks to more than Howard’s multifaceted skills in the event industry; it reflects his personal goal to be a true ally to clients, professional colleagues, fellow small business owners, and community organizations
