the Desert:

4-H Cosmetic Science Workshop


Saturday, March 4

3343 W. Washington Avenue

10:00a.m. - 1:00p.m.

This hands-on workshop, during the STEAM Showcase Event with Roseman University, will allow youth ages 12 to 18 to experiment, formulate, and test different ingredients to create their very own cosmetic products. 


Space is limited! This one-time workshop is open to middle and high school students only.

Nevada 4-H Capitol Days


Thursday, March 23

Room 3100 of Nevada State Legislature Building

8:00a.m. - 4:00p.m.


The primary goal of Nevada 4-H Capitol Days is to enhance participants’ understanding of the role and function of our Nevada State Government. Participants will have the opportunity to observe our legislators in action, as well as, have the opportunity to meet and talk with many. Registration deadline is set for February 26, 2023.

All participants will be required to attend two (2) virtual sessions. Sessions will be held at your local Extension Office or via Zoom on the following dates:

4:30-6:00p.m.

4-H Job Opportunities

University of Nevada, Reno Extension is looking for qualified professionals to fill the following 4-H related job posting:

4-H Part Time Administrative Assistant/Clerical Support


Job Description

Perform clerical administrative tasks such as entering data, managing data into the 4-H online system, organizing supplies and files, making phone calls, scheduling meetings, taking meeting notes and answering emails. Assist with editing fliers, social media posts, videos and presentations with direction from the supervisor. Assist with logistics for 4-H classes and special events, tasks include: reserving rooms, making purchases of supplies and equipment, loading and unloading equipment to transport to sites and creating sign-in sheets and entering evaluation survey data. Other tasks may include creating documents, contacting community partners and scheduling events, with direction from the supervisor.


Qualifications

Experience with Microsoft Office, and other computer software, experience doing general office clerical duties.

Skills required: time management, follow-through, excellent written and oral communication, team work, reliable and responsible.


Hourly Pay

$11 - $15 an hour, depending on experience.

  • This position will generally work between the hours of 8 am to 5 pm, Monday-Friday with occasional evening and weekend work.
  • This position is based at the University of Nevada Reno Extension at 8050 Paradise Road, Las Vegas, Nevada 89123. Occasionally the incumbent may be able to work remotely, with supervisor approval. 
  • Excellent opportunity for a college student, and anyone interested in working with youth or in education.
