CECIL DANCE THEATRE PRESENTS SNOW WHITE

CDT is excited to present this popular classic show to audiences on the stage at Milburn Stone Theatre this spring! Shows will be held Saturday, May 4 and Sunday, May 5 both days at 1:00pm. Mirror, mirror on the stage… CDT brings life to this story of age! This classic fairy tale comes to Milburn Stone Theatre where viewers will be treated to a wickedly good performance where the beauty of ballet meets the drama of evil intentions. WE'RE WISHING AND HOPING THAT YOU'D LIKE TO DANCE ON STAGE WITH US AT OUR PRESHOW!

Not only will little ones enjoy CDT's Snow White show from the audience, but they can also participate on stage before the show begins! All children arriving prior to the start of the show will be able to come up on stage if they'd like to join the "Celebrate Spring" dance party following our cast members in some party dances like Hokey Pokey, Chicken Dance and the Cha Cha Slide. No need to register for this event, simply purchase your performance tickets (click here for tickets) and arrive 15 minutes early to the show. Children may wear their favorite clothes, costume, or casual attire. We look forward to having all of the little ones join us on stage!

CREATIVE DANCE AND DANCE BASICS RECITAL COSTUME ORDERS

The studio recitals for Creative Dance and Dance Basics classes will be held Saturday, June 8 – Wednesday, June 12 at our studio. Costumes for these classes are $40 to rent the costume or $60 for the rent to buy option (the deadline has passed to purchase a costume to keep). All prices include the recital fee which includes a trophy and free admission for family and friends. A copy of the form is available on the lobby desk.

DANCE FUNDAMENTALS - ADULT LEVEL RECITAL COSTUME ORDERS

Recitals for Dance Fundamentals - Adult classes will be held on Saturday, June 15 and Sunday, June 16 at Elkton High School. The costume deadline has passed and costumes have been ordered. Dancers who missed the order deadline will need to contact the office for options. 

COSTUME DELIVERY & DISTRIBUTION FOR DANCE FUNDAMENTALS - ADULT CLASSES EXPLAINED

•  IN-STOCK: Costumes listed as "in stock" when we placed our studio order have been arriving for classes but please note that not all in-stock costumes have ALL sizes in-stock. When we receive, sort and label these in-stock costumes, we pass them out in class... BUT it is possible that your child's size may be missing from the order and will be shipped at a later date. If your child's costume is not passed out with others in their class that means we do not have it yet so please be patient!

•  ON ORDER: Some costumes are NOT "in stock" and have a later availability date as the costume company does not have any in their warehouse and needs to order them from the designer/manufacturer. If your class does not receive costumes in the next few weeks then the costume is on the "late availability" list which means it could be a few months before they are slated to be shipped. Please be patient and understanding of the delays, as this time of year there is a strain on costume manufacture, shipping, and distribution.

EHS RECITAL OPENING NUMBER 2024 - HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL!

If you would like to be in our "show before the show", and are in our Combo level class and up, Miss Tracy would love to have you join the recital opening number 'High School Musical' production. You must be willing to commit to rehearsals and participate in all four recital shows. Registration information is on the lobby desks or click here. 

EHS RECITAL DADDY-DAUGHTER DANCE

Make Father's Day weekend even more special by dancing with your little princess in our Daddy-Daughter Dance. Dads with more than one daughter performing in our recitals may choose to participate in multiple recital shows so that each child has a chance to dance. Grandfathers, uncles, and those special to your dancer are also welcome to participate! This is open to dancers in Combo level and up performing in the Elkton High School recitals. Registration information is on the lobby desks or click here.

YOUR HEART NEEDS YOU - THIS MONTH AND ALL YEAR LONG

Love yourself as you love others by taking care of the body you have! You can also express that feeling to your loved ones by staying healthy and living longer to spend more time with them. We offer Pilates with Miss Tina in Studio A on the days/times below to help you live healthier, stronger, and longer.

LOST AND FOUND

We have a lost and found bin at each studio location for items that get left behind; however, this bin is emptied several times a year with unclaimed items donated to Goodwill or discarded. So don’t delay… look today for lost items!



INCLEMENT WEATHER

We DO NOT follow public school closings or county/state government offices for inclement weather. Please check our Facebook page or your email to see if classes have been canceled. If your child's class is canceled once due to inclement weather, you may make-up the class by attending an extra class at the same level or lower. If the same class is canceled more than once, a make-up class will be scheduled. Please keep in mind that many of our instructors do not live in Cecil County, so we may need to cancel classes if the roads are bad in their area.

DRESS CODE

Please click here for information regarding our dress code for each of our dance styles. It is important that you dress appropriately so that the instructor can make sure your technique and form are correct. For classes requiring dance shoes we recommend purchasing those shoes at The Dance Station. Slippers found at Walmart or discount stores are not recommended as it's hard for the instructor to see if the foot is properly pointed.

NOTES ON ATTIRE: Although it is becoming more common to see professionals in the dance industry wearing crop tops, halters and sports bras, our studio requires dancers come to class dressed modestly with their torsos covered. We strive to promote a level of confidence that focuses on dance and not body image; therefore, students will be asked to change if they come to class exposing their torso. If you have any questions or concerns about this, please contact the office. Thank you for helping us to provide a family friendly atmosphere at Cecil Dancenter.

BALLET SLIPPER TIP

Please tuck your dancers ballet slipper laces underneath the top of the shoe. The lace may be cut shorter so it's more comfortable for your child (just make sure to double knot the lace). This provides a more aesthetic look for the mature dancer and for our younger dancers it helps the child/teacher to spend time on instruction rather than tying shoe laces.

PRIVATE LESSONS 

Private lessons are a great way for students to get personalized attention and individualized corrections. We have staff members available to give private dance lessons at a rate of $25-$72/hour. If you are interested in private lessons, please contact our office.
