Dear Pastoral Assistants of Faith Formation and Catechists,
It's hard to believe that we are on the second month of this year and several events are going to take place during this month including: the official announcement of the parish families in our archdiocese; we will be
celebrating two Sundays of Ordinary Time and two Sundays of Lent which starts with Ash Wednesday on February 14th.
| |
There will be celebrations of the Rite of Election for the catechumens preparing for their Christian Initiation across the archdiocese, and we enter into a time in which we pray, fast, and give, named a time of purification for the catechumens. Loyola Press offers us an article providing tips for catechists to help families celebrate the liturgical period of Lent. To access the article, click here. I also found a resource that could engage children and families in reflecting the meaning of the Season called: Lent in a Bag: An Activity for Church or Home.
The department of Faith Formation invites you to remember our baptism in which we were baptized in Christ, we died to sin, and entered into a new life in Jesus Christ. Let's commit to a true inner conversion and to enhance our personal relationship with Christ, our Savior.
Carlos Carrillo
Director of Faith Formation

World Day of Prayer for Consecrated Life - February 2 | |
In 1997, Pope Saint John Paul II instituted a day of prayer for women and men in consecrated life. This celebration is attached to the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord on February 2nd. This Feast is also known as Candlemas Day; the day on which candles are blessed symbolizing Christ who is the light of the world. So too, those in consecrated life are called to reflect the light of Jesus Christ to all peoples. The celebration of World Day for Consecrated Life is transferred to the following Sunday in order to highlight the gift of consecrated persons for the whole Church. We hope that you find the following resources helpful for your own celebrations of World Day of Prayer for Consecrated Life!
