February 2024

In light of the Society's expanding responsibilities and current inflationary trends, we recently adjusted the annual fee to $25 in order to uphold our commitment to service excellence and quality for all those we serve. If you have not yet paid your 2024 membership fee, please consider this your reminder to do so now, by clicking the link below.

Renew your Membership

We wanted to take a moment to express our gratitude to all our members who stand by us, and those who have already paid their yearly membership fee. Your continued participation goes a long way in helping us sustain our programs and services.

We have been tirelessly working to spare our members the significant financial burden associated with acquiring wheelchairs, mobility aids, and various other accessibility devices. Through these efforts, we've collectively saved our members over 2.5 million dollars in the past 15 years alone. Furthermore, we are actively engaged in several initiatives aimed at enhancing accessibility and inclusivity within Langley City and beyond.

The Pos-Abilities Society thank you for joining us in extending our care to those who could use a helping hand. Your support is sincerely appreciated.

PAD Program

Through our Personal Assistive Devices Program, it is possible to request a personal assistive piece of equipment. If you would like to browse available equipment, please visit our catalog here.

To learn more about requesting or donating equipment, visit our website.

Over the 2023 year, we had 72 donors and 44 recipients that were engaged in our PAD Program. It is a huge part of what we do at Langley Pos-Abilities. Thank you to our donors for helping make this possible. We are privileged to be able to help increase accessibility in our members' lives.

TOAD Program

We have developed several programs which promote understanding of and increase empathy towards persons with disabilities.

Ideal as team-building exercises, employee or management retreats, school educational experiences, seminars, in-services, or lunch and learn events, these activities are fun, interactive and eye-opening.

PUSH FOR ACCESSIBILITY: MAPPING PROJECT

Langley Pos-Abilities is engaged in a Mapping Program. The purpose is to enable access to public buildings for anyone who might have challenges, such as seniors, mothers with strollers, and people with disabilities. Disabilities include mobility issues, hearing loss, blindness, and many other conditions requiring assistive devices.

This can be easily accessed on any device (laptop, phone, iPad). We are encouraging all members of our community to take time and review different locations you go to in terms of 3 main accessibility features: mobility, vision, and hearing.

Visit the Accessibility Map

Stay tuned for exciting updates about our accessibility map: Soon, there will be a completely accessible app available for various types of device users. This app will be free to everybody and available through google and apple. We hope you are as excited as we are!

Accessible or Not?

Watch this video to learn about how important it is for people in wheelchairs and scooters to have proper accessible parking. Lack of proper parking in the right location can put them at risk or restricts access to their vehicle. Accessible parking isn't about convenience, it's a requirement.

Langley Pos-Abilities Society is grateful to have collaborated with SPARC BC on this project.

Accessibility Audit Program

Langley Pos-Abilities will assess your workplace accessibility, offer you a detailed report, and if needed, suggest ideas to improve your score. There are many low-cost or cost-free ways you can make your workplace a welcoming environment for people with disabilities.

Contact us today to receive an audit and assistance in making your facility more accessible for all.
