CHAIR MESSAGE
Tom Thornton
Your Promo Partners
I hope the New Year is off to a great start for everybody. I know the weather has been a bit of a challenge with the grey skies and wintery mix of cold temperatures, snow and ice; but that’s winter in Illinois. Thank you to those of you who braved the weather and came out to our January events. Highlights from January include our Chamber Member Breakfast and Networking Event where we welcomed our newest members, the State of the County Luncheon & Business Expo, and Mayor Christopher Pecak gave the State of the Village Address at the Chamber’s General Membership Luncheon.
We’re getting some interest in bringing back the Business After Hours events and are close to getting some dates on the calendar. Attending Business After Hours is a great way to build new business relationships as well as keep in touch with other local business professionals in a relaxed atmosphere. If you’d be interested in hosting a Business After Hours, please let me know. We’d like to start having them once a month again. Hosting a Business After Hours gives you the opportunity to show off your business to other chamber members.
Make sure to check the events calendar on our website, www.lislechamber.com, regularly so you can keep up with all of our events. Each event offers the opportunity to promote your business and meet with other area business professionals.
Warm Regards,
Tom Thornton

AMBASSADOR SPOTLIGHT
Adriane Ruiz
Emerge Wealth Strategies
This month's featured Ambassador is Adriane Ruiz of Emerge Wealth Strategies. Adriane had been a Chamber member in the past but recently joined again a couple of years ago. She is the Operations Manager at Emerge Wealth Strategies were she tracks financial information and handles the administrative duties. Adriane has been in this field on and off since 1999.
In addition to the Ambassador Committee, Adriane is involved with the Dinner Dance and the Wine Committees. She enjoys being an Ambassador because she loves to get to know people in the area. This allows her to interact with others a lot more and she has made a lot of friends.
Adriane lives in Four Lakes with her husband and two cats. She likes biking, swimming, snowboarding and going to concerts. Her favorite quote is from the character Harry in the movie LA Story. "All I know is, on the day your plane was to leave, if I had the power, I would turn the winds around, I would roll in the fog, I would bring in storms, I would change the polarity of the earth so compasses couldn't work, so your plane couldn't take off."
(Securities and advisory services offered through LPL Financial, a Registered Investment Advisor, Member FINRA/SPIC).

The Committee for the Naperville St. Patrick’s Day Parade announces the parade will be held for the 31st year on March 9, 2024. The annual parade has attracted annually over 15,000 spectators from across the western suburbs to downtown Naperville on the Saturday before St. Patrick’s Day. The event once again will step off at 10am and feature a mix of floats, marching bands, entertainers and a portrayal of St. Patrick himself along with local businesses and non-profit organizations. The parade is also broadcast live on NCTV-17.
This parade is an excellent opportunity to reach out to a large audience from throughout DuPage County and the western suburbs for any product or service, and to introduce a new business venture to a large audience. Businesses and non-profits can purchase an entry in the parade, and also can sponsor the parade to increase visibility.
Registration for the parade costs $150 for businesses and $40 for non-profit organizations. Sponsorships including priority placement at the front of the parade and other benefits are available for $200, $500, or $1000 – see below for more details.
For more information or to register, reach out to: chris.jacks@sbcglobal.net, or you can register for the parade at: www.wsirish.org

Charitable Trust – Helping Small Nonprofits Across Illinois
The Charitable Trust Stabilization Fund (“Fund”) was created in 2007 to help small non-profits across Illinois. Money for the Fund comes from the filing fees not-for-profit organizations pay to incorporate with the State of Illinois. The program is funded by non-profits and exists to support non-profits.
Charitable Trust is intended to help small non-profits with annual budgets of $1 million or less. Grant applicants located in an area where pervasive poverty, unemployment, and economic distress exist will be given special attention.
Treasurer Frerichs and the State Treasurer’s Office work with an 11-member committee that oversees the management and guidelines of the Fund. The committee is made up of appointees from state government agencies and private citizens.
The Spring 2024 Grant Cycle, running from January 1 – March 31 2024, will award grants to non-profit charitable programs in two categories: Food and Housing. The Fall 2024 Grant Cycle, running from July 1 – September 30, will award grants to organizations in two categories: Food and Economic & Workforce Development.
The Charitable Trust Grant program has awarded $4.2 Million in grants to 211 charitable organizations in 65 cities across Illinois.
Applicants will need to complete the online application in full, including all requested documents and forms. Applicants without access to a computer or the Internet should contact the State Treasurer’s office at (217) 836-4590.
The application requests basic information about the non-profit organization and leadership. Applicants will also be asked to certify their eligibility for this grant, write a narrative on how the grant money will be spent, and provide supporting documentation that shows their non-profit has filed appropriate forms with the Illinois Secretary of State's office, the Illinois Attorney General's office, and the Federal Government, and other information that demonstrates the fiscal health of the organization.
Questions about this program or the application can be directed to:
CharitableTrust@illinoistreasurer.gov or at (217) 836-4590.
For more information about eligibility and the criteria that will be used to judge applications, click here.
For some basic information regarding Charitable Trust, please see the Charitable Trust Fact Sheet.

Executive Director Message
Jill Eidukas
Just 30 more minutes of light a day seems to invigorate my thinking process. I feel more alert and motivated to prepare for the day. By the end of February, we should gain another hour of sunlight. Hopefully spring will be right around the corner. January kept us on our toes with the Chamber Member Breakfast and Networking event, the State of the Village General Membership Luncheon and the Multi-Chamber State of the County Luncheon and Business Expo. At each of those events, I witnessed a lot of networking and members meeting for the first time. These personal connections can help your business grow. Attend a Chamber event and meet some new people and catch up with the ones you currently know.
The Downtown Business Council Committee is back. The first meeting will be on February 8th at 8:30 a.m. in the first-floor conference room at the Chamber office in Lisle Village Hall. This group meets to discuss, plan and work toward the promotion and improvement of Downtown Lisle. If you are interested in joining, please email the Chamber your interest in attending. Also in February, there is a Multi-Chamber Progressive Networking Breakfast taking place at the Bloomingdale Golf Club on February 22nd. You can register for the event here. If you register by February 8th, you will be entered into a raffle for a free round of golf.
The Village of Lisle is hosting Restaurant Week April 16th through April 19th. More information can be found in our newsletter and the Village of Lisle’s website. If your restaurant is interested in taking part in Restaurant Week, please visit the Village of Lisle’s website for the form to participate.
The Chamber has uploaded the 2024 Scholarship Application on our website. Eligible students must either have an immediate family member who is a member of our Chamber or they must have a Lisle mailing address. The full application requirements are on our Chamber website with the application. The scholarship deadline is April 5, 2024 by 4:00 p.m.
The Chamber is hosting a myriad of events this year and we will have a call to action for volunteers. If you are interested in joining a Committee or volunteering at our events, please contact us. Our volunteers are the reason we are able to hold our stellar events. Thank you to everyone that is involved with the Lisle Area Chamber, it is because of members and volunteers like you, that our Chamber can continue to thrive.
