Headline
We visited Headlne after a pretty snowstorm recently and captured some winter scenes, as well as some interior photos. We are coming back this summer for real photos. Our clients are very much enjoying their new home and the wonderful views of the landscape and sun rises. Interior design by Jeanne Handy Designs, construction by Thorner Building Corp.
Island Cottage
Island construction brings out some challenges in the design and constructability of building where there are no roads. We are working with Chartier Building and Remodeling on how to limit heavy construction materials (except windows and doors) and still provide a comfortable and well-constructed cottage.
Modern Barn
We are making progress on a modern barn in China, ME. There is a fun game and theater room above a small car collection garage and the great room is opened to the wonderful south facing patio. The patio, along with a small pool and covered grilling deck (designed by Carson Douglas Landscape Architect) also helps transition the grade from the backyard to the garage lower floor.
I'll Take Manhattan
David and I spent a long weekend recently back in the city where we met each other, leaving NYC in 2001 with many memories. We dined with David's old boss and college roommate, Doug, attended a couple of Broadway shows, and finally got to Birdland for a jazz show. We also visited one of David's projects where he was responsible for the facilitation and fabrication of this solid granite sculpture, Triumph of the Human Spirit by the Dr. Lorenzo Pace. The sculpture is holding up well but we can't say the same of the lack of upkeep by the Parks Dept for the rest of Foley Square.
Views from the Job site
At over 22 feet long, this triple-glazed European style lift and slide door provides un-paralleled views of Harpswell Sound (after installation), but is amazingly easy to operate. A 6 foot panel slides, but the remaining door is a glass panel. Construction by Maguire Construction.
