President Trump has issued several Executive Orders that may impact private sector employers, including those who are not federal contractors. At least one has been temporarily blocked by two judges, applicable to some states.

EEOC Announces Shift in "Protecting Women in the Workplace"


On January 20, 2025, President Trump issued Executive Order 14168, “Defending Women from Gender Ideology Extremism and Restoring Biological Truth to the Federal Government.” On January 28, 2025, the EEOC announced a shift in how it will protect "women from sexual harassment and sex-based discrimination in the workplace."

On January 6, 2025, the EEOC announced a settlement of $99,000 to resolve a federal lawsuit alleging the employer delayed investigating an employee’s internal complaint. What did the consent decree establish as the period of time by which the employer should initiate an investigation?

EEOC Comments on Wearables at Work


On December 19, 2024, the EEOC announced a new fact sheet, “Wearables in the Workplace: The Use of Wearables and Other Monitoring Technology Under Federal Employment Discrimination Laws.


The agency reminds employers about their duties and obligations related to reasonable accommodation, data collection, and use of the acquired information.

SCOTUS, the ADA & the Space Time Continuum


Whether you are a Star Trek fan of any generation or not, I find the question in a case the U.S. Supreme has agreed to hear interesting. We know the ADA covers current employees and job applicants – individuals who work for us or want to work for us. But the high court has agreed to hear a case with an interesting spin about a former employee's coverage.
