Financial Management Series |
Module 5 of the Financial Management Series for Volunteers is now available
In Module 5, you’ll explore the essentials of financial reporting, including:
- Annual financial reports
- Inventory reports
- Financial review responsibilities
You’ll also gain a clear understanding of the certification process for 4-H Annual Financial Reporting. By the end, you’ll be equipped to manage financial reporting with confidence and accuracy. This module takes about 10 minutes to complete. This series is available on the 4-H Learning Center in both English and Spanish.
About the Series
The Financial Management Series offers quick, targeted learning for 4-H volunteers, especially those in financial roles like Club Leaders, Treasurer Advisors, and VMO Treasurers. You will earn a certificate and digital badge by completing all seven modules. Modules cover essential topics, including:
- Basics of financial management (available now)
- Setting up and authorizing bank accounts (available now)
- Planning, fundraising, and resource management (available now)
- Managing gifts, scholarships, animals, and firearms (available now)
- Financial reporting and compliance (available now)
- Responsibilities of 4-H Unit and VMO Treasurers (April 2025)
- Managing excess funds, disbursements, taxes, and property (June 2025)

Virtual Regional Presentations April 14 — 24, 2025
Sign ups for Evaluators and Room Hosts open February 28
We can only host virtual Regional Presentations if we have Evaluators! Last year the demand for virtual presentations at State Field Day increased 63%, to 418 presentations! Adults and Senior Youth ages 16 and up can sign up starting February 28. Availability for Presenter slots is dependent on having Evaluators and Room Hosts already signed up.
What you can do now:
- Familiarize yourself with the 4-H Presentation Manual 2021.
- Save the date on your calendar for Wednesday, April 9 from 6-8pm for the orientation.
- Save the date(s) on your calendar when you can volunteer, from April 14-24
- Follow us on Facebook (@California4H) or Instagram (@ca4H) to get the sign-up link when it's live!

Youth may enter the CA 4-H Avian Bowl as a team in the following age categories:
- 4-H Junior Avian Bowl TEAM: 9- 13 years old
- 4-H Senior Avian Bowl TEAM: 14-18 years old (Qualifier for the National 4-H Avian Bowl contest)

Registration of 4-H teams and individual entries must be managed by your county office. Accounts have been created for this purpose and your county staff needs to reach out to JudgingCard.com to activate these accounts. Please have them email info@judgingcard.com to gain access to the account. Registrations can not be made through the JudgingCard system by parents, coaches or youth members. JudgingCard accounts are meant to be accessed at the county level.
Livestock Judging (State Qualifier for National)
NEW location: Dixon May Fair (approximately 9 miles from UC Davis)
Both team and individual entries are allowed.
- Junior 4-H Division: youth aged 9 to 13
- Senior 4-H Division: youth aged 14 to 18
Teams competing in the Senior 4-H division of each of these contests will be eligible to qualify for a national 4-H competition.
4-H Division in Light Horse Judging Contest
NOTE: This is NOT a state qualifier contest, but interested 4-H youth aged 9-18 years old are welcome to enter.

New for 2025….the Dairy Cattle Judging State Qualifier is being hosted by Modesto Junior College!
Contest entry is open to all 4-H youth aged 9-18 years old. Senior aged 4-H youth (14-18 years old) are eligible to qualify to represent California 4-H at national 4-H dairy cattle judging contests.

Save the Date for 2025 California 4-H Horse Classic

Brookside Show Park, Elk Grove
The 2025 California 4-H Horse Classic will be held July 16-20 at Brookside Show Park in Elk Grove. It will include State Qualifier Educational Contests and the State 4-H Horse Classic Show. Information and registration will be updated soon on the Horse Events website.
