Learn about LGBTQ stories in Jewish lore through the centuries. Marques received ordination as a Maggid (sacred storyteller) and is an operatically trained vocalist, ritual leader, and theatre-maker, who has been telling (and singing!) stories for as long he can remember.

"Living Better by Design: Home Safety, Fall Prevention and Personal Safety Alarms"

Monday, March 10 | 7:00–8:30pm | On Zoom | Register

Join two experts in home safety, fall prevention and personal safety alarms to learn about how you can maintain a higher quality of life at home. Josh Krasner, Home Safety & Fall Prevention Coordinator at Health Advocates for Older People (HAFOP) will give a virtual tour of a home and explore the tips and tricks one may need to maintain a high quality of life while aging in place. Alex Guitelman, owner of ResponseLINK of Manhattan, will walk us through a variety of wearable personal medical alert/fall detection devices.

Those living in the five boroughs will also be able to sign up for a free, in-home safety consultation.

Amelia Bienstock (she/her), is CBST’s Educational and Pastoral Administrative Assistant. She is passionate about education and has worked with kids and families for several years in diverse Jewish settings. Amelia has also worked as an administrator at Hadassah and has been doing improv comedy for more than a decade. She will discuss how she shares her passion for education through play, Jewish joy and LGBTQ advocacy with the next generation.

In 1571 the Jews of Tuscany were forced to move to a ghetto in Florence, though you will not find traces of it today. How do we make sense of this kind of persecution where Renaissance literature, art, and architecture had flourished? Join Professor and CBST member Stefanie Siegmund, historian at the Jewish Theological Seminary, to explore the lives of Jewish men and women in Tuscany, from their first settlement to the ghetto of Florence.
