Greenway Goes to DC to Speak With Legislators

The Greenway has been on the road sharing our good work.

Each year, the Alliance of National Heritage Area's annual meeting occurs in our nation's capital, Washington D.C. This year, our Executive Director and Co-Chair of the Board of the Maurice D. Hinchey Hudson River Valley NHA traveled to D.C. to meet with fellow heritage areas and share our accomplishments throughout the Hudson Valley with our Congressional Representatives.

Greenway staff also attended the New York Conference of Mayor's Winter Legislative Meeting in Colonie. The meeting provided an excellent opportunity to connect with Mayors throughout the Hudson Valley and the state and share information about our grant opportunities for municipalities and programming.

Technical Assistance Grants are Now Available

Technical Assistance Grants (TAG) are available to eligible 501(c)(3) nonprofit arts and cultural organizations and municipalities. TAG grants support historic preservation planning studies that jump-start preservation projects. Applications are due April 18, 2025.

This program is offered by the New York State Council on the Arts and Preservation League of NYS, with additional support from the Maurice D. Hinchey Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area and Robert David Lion Gardiner Foundation. LEARN MORE ABOUT THIS FUNDING >>.

Celebrating Black History Month in the Hudson Valley

One of the Maurice D. Hinchey Hudson River Valley National Heritage's themes is Freedom & Dignity, which recognizes the struggle and opportunities African Americans faced in the Hudson Valley in their pursuit of freedom. Historic sites along the Hudson River tell the stories of the people and events across three centuries of our nation’s struggle for liberty, dignity, equality, and basic human rights.

Celebrate and learn more about Black History with some of these local events:
