The following is adapted from other newsletters about Mars, but the dates and degrees are different.
Finally, Mars stations direct on February 24 (GMT) but even though the exact date of the retrograde station is February 24th it has already for all intents and purposes been standing still for about a week before it moves forward at the above degrees. Mars has been retrograde since December 6, 2024, and as stated in several newsletters there were so many sudden, disruptive, violent and unexpected events that have happened since it stationed retrograde some of which include the overthrow of Syrian President Assad on December 7, 2024, the day after Mars stationed retrograde; the South Korean president declaring Martial Law, only to have it reversed with him getting impeached and a trial coming up, uncontrollable fires in Los Angeles and Malibu, collision of planes in mid-air above Washington DC, and many other Mars events.
It is especially noteworthy when events happen a week before and after the retrograde or direct station as these are usually events that can be political, meteorological, accidents, violence, wars, deaths of notable people, and major disruptions. These events often have greater, global ramifications in the world as mentioned above with Assad's overthrow. Events that occur between February 17th-March 3rd, a week before and after the Mars direct station, will also be intense and will not be just local one-day events. Some of these have already occurred: U.S. government is being turned on its head; there are talks to end the war between Ukraine and Russia, but they have not been and probably will not be smooth and peaceful since it coincides with Mars direct. The same can be said with the war between Israel and Hamas. Pope Francis is very ill, and we send prayers for healing, but he is in critical condition; Germany is holding elections on February 23rd the day before the Mars direct station, which could impact the European order, and will surely add disruption.
Although Mars usually means that we can move forward positively, the situation in the world might not be as lucky, since the month of March includes Venus retrograde March 2-April 13, Mercury retrograde March 15-April 7, total lunar eclipse on March 14, Sun-Venus conjunction March 22, and partial solar eclipse on March 29. (I will talk about all this in the Venus Retrograde Webinar and in the March News and Views.)
And we all need to take deep breaths since new things are happening in the world every day since Mars is always quick, and things happen often without warning. Make sure you are strong, active, get fresh air, exercise and a healthy diet, and we can do our best to take control of our lives in whichever way we can. Even though Mars is moving in direct fashion on the 24th, it still takes a while for it to withstand all that happens in March, recoup its speed and move positively forward. There will still be a third and final Mars-Pluto opposition on April 27th, and Mars is in its retrograde arc through May 2nd.
On a positive note, Mars moving direct will finally allow you to address projects and negotiations that may have been languishing and set aside, which you can now move forward. Once Mars moves direct, it will not be an immediate injection of speed, since it takes a little while to regain its direct motion, but it is guaranteed that Mars will move ahead with speed after mid-April and then finally when it passes the degree of the retrograde arc. However, you should definitely feel that Mars direct will move things along in a way that might have appeared to be stuck since Mars went retrograde.
As we see this planet of disruption go direct, think about what you may have been doing around the last week of November and the first week of December around the retrograde station that might have disrupted, obstructed, or just left you in a state of frustration. Even if you do not know where it was in your chart, whatever incident was happening around then will be the key and this might finally be the time to revisit it and to finally move forward since there may finally be some optimism, and the desire to get things done. Even though Venus will retrograde between March 2-April 13, and Mercury retrogrades between March 15-April 7, which of course might still make you move slower than usual, take this time to put back into action things that may have taken a detour. If you had words with anyone, or expressed a difference of opinion, now is the time to get that relationship back on track.
Of course remember that Mars is still within its retrograde arc, as we see above, which means that between February 24 and May 2, Mars will once again do its third pass between tropical 17° Cancer’-6° Leo 10/sidereal 22° Gemini 54’-12° Cancer 03’, meaning that the first time Mars passed through those degrees would have been between October 5, 2024 and December 6, 2024, the second time would have been between December 6, 2024 and February 24, 2025, and the last time between February 24, 2025 and May 2, 2025.
If you have any planets, points, or angles close to the retrograde or direct station, you will feel the transit of Mars twice, and it will be most intense around the retrograde or direct station. If you have any planets, points, or angles in between those degrees Mars will hit them for the third time, though this time it should be a charm, as it finally will complete things that may have been uprooted or displaced since October 5, 2024, when Mars first entered the retrograde arc. If you have something at the actual retrograde or direct station this will be the second pass, but it will be a great relief since the ability to move forward will enable you to move on.
If, however, you do not have any prominent placements in the span of degrees between the retrograde and direct stations, Mars will still be travelling through a section of the zodiac, and thus, a section of your horoscope. If you use a whole sign house system or use Indian astrology, it will be easy to see where tropical Cancer/Leo, and sidereal Gemini/Cancer are placed. If you use a quadrant, or unequal system, you just have to see in which houses those degrees lie. Whatever those houses represent in your chart will be the area in which Mars has caused some havoc. Remember that when Mars goes retrograde, every two years and two months, it either travels through one sign for seven months, or two signs for nine months, the latter of which has been the case this time.
Read if you use sidereal Indian astrology. If you have a planet, point, or angle in your chart between 21-23 Gemini, Mars stationing direct will be conjunct, where it has already been once before, and will pack a punch but one that will move you forward and remind you about some of the delays and obstruction, so that now you can regroup and take positive action. If you have a planet, point, or angle between 22 Gemini 54-12 Cancer 03, Mars will do the same but not as intensely as when it hits the stationary degree. This is in general what will be affected if Mars hits these planets or angle.
