Kristi's Passion
Kristi Harkenrider's passion over the years has been helping the elderly and her long-standing involvement with Aging & In-Home Services of Northeast Indiana reflects that.
The mission of Aging & In-Home Services is "Promoting dignity, independence and advocacy for all older adults, people with disabilities and their family caregivers".
They support several programs impacting 65,000 people last year. A few key programs are:
- Aging & In-Home Services’ (AIHS) Nutrition Program is funded by the Older Americans Act (OAA). The Older Americans Act supports congregate and home-delivered meals for people aged 60 and older to address the problems of food insecurity, promote socialization, and promote the health and well-being of older adults through nutrition and nutrition-related services.
- The Family Caregiver Center provides support and services to caregivers of individuals age 60 or over or an individual of any age who has dementia or a related disorder.
- PACE (Programs of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly). PACE programs coordinate and provide all needed preventive, primary, acute and long-term care services so that older individuals can continue living in the community.
- One of our member's, Lea Smith, and her family were supported by this program. Lea told me "As my family needed more support for my uncle, I recalled that Kristi worked with aging and in-home. I reached out to her to see what options may be available. She connected me with the PACE program. It was such a blessing for my Mom to have a place for her brother to go where she knew he was safe and well taken care of. Uncle Don enjoyed his time there and made several friends. This allowed her to focus on her own personal health".
If you or someone you love needs support, please reach out to them. If you would like to help them, there are ways to do that as well. Explore their website HERE.

Robin's Passion
Robin Pease does several selfless things to support our homeless population.
She helps with Street Reach for the Homeless. (Check out their page on FB). It's very cold out and there is always a need for blankets and men’s parka style jackets. Couch throws need to be at least 72” long, as we have some very tall folks. Men’s shoes, hats and gloves are also welcomed.
If you can help with anything, it will be truly appreciated. If not, please keep the homeless of Ft. Wayne in your prayers."
You can contact me by email or text. Rpease13@frontier.com or 260-440-9358.

We are thrilled to share that Purdue Fort Wayne Women’s Golf team will host its first-ever tournament, the Hammock Beach Invitational, on March 13-14 in Palm Coast, FL. This is a significant milestone for the program, which is on the rise, having won three tournaments (Red Flash Invitational, Indiana State Invitational, The Julie) in the last two seasons and a runner up finish—making this our most successful stretch in program history.
Would be a fun kickoff to Spring to go watch! If you or anyone you know is interested in knowing more or sponsoring, click HERE.
