Spring has officially arrived in Marin County, and the season is already in full bloom. As the spring real estate market kicks off, our team is preparing a collection of exceptional homes across all price points. 


Commitment to Fire Safety in Marin County 


Following the devastating Los Angeles fires, I am making it a priority to become more involved in fire prevention efforts in our community. For years, our team has proudly supported Fire Safe Marin, and I recently joined the Fire Committee in Kent Woodlands to contribute to local fire preparedness initiatives.

Market Insights: Low Inventory Continues 


Despite my prediction that we would see an increase in inventory this year, tight inventory will persist for the spring market. I wish this were not the case. This has made buyers' access to off-market properties more critical than ever. As a side note, every buyer-represented sale for our team this year has been off-market. 


To help both our buying and selling clients, last year, Compass introduced two exclusive programs: Private Exclusive and Coming Soon. Both have delivered exceptional results in Marin County. As of February 24, 2024: 


  • 419 total listings were available across all price points. 
  • 79 listings (18.5% of the total market) were only found on the Compass website via Private Exclusive & Coming Soon. 
  • 31% of all $3M+ listings were exclusive to Compass. 


Marin Market Update 

Year-to-Date Sales Trends: 


  • Single-family home sales have increased 3% YOY. 
  • $5M+ home sales are down 20% YOY. 
  • One sale recorded over $10M YTD—a $13M sale in Belvedere - we represented the buyer. 
  • Belvedere (2), Sausalito (1), and Tiburon (1) are the only markets with $5M+ sales so far this year.

Newly Released Cal Fire Risk Maps 


This week, Cal Fire released updated fire risk maps for cities across the Bay Area and Northern California—the first update in over a decade. These maps (still in draft form) will influence stricter fire-resistant building and landscaping regulations.

One Simple Step to Increase Fire Safety 


According to Larry Pasero, Deputy Fire Marshal of Kentfield Fire, one of the most effective ways to stay informed during emergencies is to sign up for Alert Marin. Currently, only 30% of Marin residents are enrolled. This system serves as the primary emergency notification system for Marin County.
