I hope the New Year is off to a great start for everybody. I know the weather has been a bit of a challenge with the grey skies and wintery mix of cold temperatures, snow and ice; but that’s winter in Illinois.
Coming up in February, we will have a Business After Hours on February 6th from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Kenetha Cook’s Edward Jones office located at 101 W. 22nd Street, Suite 108 in Lombard. On February 11th, we will have our first Golf Committee meeting at the Chamber office located in Lisle Village Hall, 925 Burlington Avenue. We will also have the first Committee meeting on February 13th to plan the new beer, wine and spirits event coming this August. If you are interested in joining either of those Committees, please contact the Chamber for details. Then on February 14th, there is a Multi-Chamber Progressive Networking Breakfast, from 7:45-9:30 a.m. taking place at the Bloomingdale Golf Club. Over 17 Chambers will be participating in this networking breakfast. You can register on the Chamber website.
Make sure to check the Events calendar on the Chamber website regularly, www.lislechamber.com, so you can keep up with all of our events. Each event offers the opportunity to promote your business and meet with other area business professionals.

STATE OF THE VILLAGE BREAKFAST

On Thursday, January 23, 2025, Mayor Christopher Pecak presented the State of the Village address at the Hyatt Regency Lisle. Mayor Pecak will also be delivering his State of the Village address on February 3rd at 6:00 p.m. in the Lisle Village Hall Board Room, 925 Burlington Avenue. Sustainable Saturday Recycling Event

The 2024 Sustainable Saturday Event is scheduled for Saturday, March 15, 2025, from 9 a.m. to noon in the Benedictine University Rice Center Parking Lot at 5700 College Road. Participants must enter off Benedictine Drive off Maple Avenue, west of Benedictine University and east of Benedictine Parkway, and follow the route through the campus to the drop-off in the Rice Center Parking Lot. The entrance off Maple Avenue is the ONLY entrance for use during Sustainable Saturday. There will be no access to the event from College Road. Please allow sufficient time for drop off. Due to anticipated large traffic volume, there may be periodic delays. No public restrooms are provided. If capacity is reached prior to noon, the event may close early.
The Village of Lisle, Benedictine University, DuPage County, SCARCE, Lisle Township and LRS encourage you to bring electronics, household batteries, bicycles, textiles and more to the annual Sustainable Saturday event.This event will be in place of the March Quarterly Electronics Recycling Event that occurs in Downtown Lisle.

AMBASSADOR SPOTLIGHT
Claudine Rummer
Claudine Rummer is the Office Manager at the Chamber. She began working at the Chamber in April 2015. She became involved with the Ambassador Committee in July 2015 and has really enjoyed her time working with this Committee. While working with the Ambassador Committee, Claudine is in awe of how the Ambassadors come together to mentor the new members as well as support all Chamber members.
Claudine grew up in Lisle and currently lives in Downers Grove. She enjoys photography and that is one of the many things she really enjoys about working at the Chamber. She also enjoys reading and traveling. Claudine considers herself lucky because she has been able to travel extensively. There are still many other destinations that she hopes to visit one day. The opportunity of working at the Chamber has provided her with a feeling of satisfaction when she sees the hard work that all of the members and volunteers put in for the Community. They are the ones that make the Chamber as great as it is. Claudine’s favorite quote is “Be the change you wish to see in the world.”

The Lisle Area Chamber of Commerce hosted a Mayoral Candidate Forum at Lisle Village Hall on January 28, 2025. Candidates Mary Jo Mullen and Christoper Pecak answered questions from the audience. Thank you to Debbie Pawlowicz, Chair of the Government Affairs Committee, Claudine Rummer, Liz O’Toole, moderator of the forum, Paula Gleason, Christopher Fry, and the Chamber’s Government Affairs Committee. The Chamber is committed to community engagement and is thankful to the candidates for taking part in this forum for the community.
The local election is April 1, 2025. For information on voting by mail and early voting, please visit DuPage County’s website. I have been told that it is spring break week for some so vote early if you plan on being out of town. A Consolidated Primary Election focusing on the City of Aurora Mayoral contest and Lisle Township Democratic Party positions is scheduled for February 25, 2025. Polling places will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Election Day. For detailed information on candidates participating in these elections, you can refer to the DuPage County Election Divisional official website. Staying informed about these events and participating in local elections are excellent ways to engage with and support the Lisle community.
Another way to engage with and support the Lisle community is joining the Chamber in our upcoming 2025 events. We are planning our Annual Golf Outing this spring, the Turkey Trot Tune-Up 5K this fall, and the new wine, beer and spirits event that we are planning for August. By joining a Chamber Committee to help plan these events you can be more involved with the Chamber and maximize your Chamber membership. In addition to the events Committees, there is the Ambassadors, Lisle Area Leads, Government Affairs, and Downtown Business Council Committees. Please contact the Chamber for more information.
Sponsorships opportunities are available for our Annual Golf Outing, Turkey Trot Tune Up 5K, and our new Wine, Beer and Spirits event.
