OUR DIAMOND ANNIVERSARY IS UNDERWAY!

We kicked off Our 75th Year on January 16 with a sparkling reception at the new Tiffany & Co. at NorthPark Center. It was a perfect combination of the famed jewelry store that dates back to 1837 and the Friends that dates back to 1950.

Our chair, Ken Benson, and 75th Anniversary co-chairs Anne Besser and Nicole Paquette talked about the achievements behind us and the challenges ahead and revealed plans for the big year which you'll read about below.

Thank you to Tiffany & Co. for hosting us to kick off our Diamond Anniversary. Read about the evening, thanks to My Sweet Charity, here.

CELEBRATE BLACK HISTORY MONTH AT THE LIBRARY

The Library has events and programs throughout the month at the Central Library and branches citywide to mark Black History Month. They range from craft workshops to concerts, author talks, Meals & Memories: a Community Tasting, and the Black Business Expo at the Vickery Park branch. There's a long list to choose from here.

ALL ABOUT THE FIRST DALLAS COWBOY

Our friend Dave Lieber, the watchdog columnist at The Dallas Morning News, has written a new book about Don Meredith, the fabled Cowboys quarterback who became a beloved broadcaster on Monday Night Football.

Lieber, who wrote this splendid article about our late Friends chair Karen Blumenthal's crusade for a new Forest Green branch library, will talk about "Dandy Don" on Saturday, February 8, at 2 p.m. at the Central Library.

It's free, and the perfect way to get ready for the Super Bowl the next day. More details are here.

MEET THE CARDBOARD PROJECT

We're proud to highlight The CARDboard Project, a wonderful organization that partners with Dallas Public Library to help bridge the digital divide in Dallas.
