February 2025 Parent Bulletin

Greetings, RSPA Families!

I can’t believe we have celebrated 100 days of school and boy, did we have fun!

We will have our second round of SLEDs this month on Friday, February 21st. This is an opportunity for students to share their learning in all content areas. Look for a Signup Genius notification from your child’s teacher. On February 13th, our Dazzling Dolls are hosting the 3rd Annual Sweetheart Ball. Make sure you purchase your tickets!

We’re celebrating Black History Month with a variety of activities throughout the month. Please be sure to join us for our Black History Program later this month.

Mandatory tutorials have begun. Please allow your scholars to attend the weekly sessions. Teachers have provided the days they will tutor and will cover concepts that need additional review, including STAAR-aligned skills for our 3rd-6th grade scholars.

Yearbooks and yearbook ads are now on sale. Diary of an RSPA Kid will be a personal lasting tribute to your scholars for their hard work, growth, and special moments of this school year. We also encourage you to celebrate your PreK, Kinder, 5th, or 8th grade scholars’ achievements with a heartfelt ad! Please see the flyers below to pre-order your copy before the price increases.

Parents, this is a friendly reminder that attendance is vital to your scholar's success, and we need every scholar at school each day. Students are considered tardy at 8:05 AM and absent after 9:45 AM. Students with excessive absences will receive a letter from the school and are at risk of attending summer school. Each day your child is absent, please send a note with your scholar's name, grade level, and reason for absence.

RSPA thanks you for your continued support in ensuring your scholars are at school and on time each day. Keep it up and you're in for an RSPA Splash Day treat!

PARENT ANNOUNCEMENTS & REMINDERS

Attendance:

Remember how much fun our perfect attendance scholars had at our S.N.O.W. Day? Don't slack now! Scholars with perfect attendance (or only miss one school day or less) from January 21st through May 9th can attend the RSPA Splash Party on May 16th!

Please make sure that your child attends school daily. It is imperative to their academic success and growth in school. As a reminder, students who miss ten or more school days may receive an attendance behavior contract and could be subject to compulsory attendance laws. Remember, three tardies are equivalent to one absence.

24-25 Yearbook & Yearbook Ad Sales

RSPA is excited to announce the sale of its 2024-2025 Diary of an RSPA Kid yearbook! Purchase your copy for $30 before the price increases on March 31st.

Hello, Parents and Guardians,

My, how time sure does fly by. February is here, and what an exciting month it will be as we celebrate Black Excellence.

This month, scholars will learn about integrity. Please talk to your scholars about the importance of being honest even when no one is looking.

We are also in the planning stages of our annual College & Career Convention on March 20th. You can learn more about it by attending Coffee with the Counselor this month and next month.

See you then!

Best Regards,

Jassitte Gibson, M.Ed.
