MWMC Pollution Prevention Campaign Wins National Award

The MWMC received a National Environmental Achievement Award from the National Association of Clean Water Agencies for its Pollution Prevention Digital Advertising Campaign. The campaign created more the 6 million impressions in Eugene, Springfield, and Lane County on a $60,000 budget, helping educate our community on ways they can prevent pollution and issues in the wastewater system. Members of the MWMC communications team attended the NACWA winter conference in January to officially accept the award.

20-Year Facility Plan Nearing Final Stages

As we continue planning for the future of our utility and our community, it's necessary to take a look at the big picture and prioritize our most important needs. That's why our team goes through a major planning effort every 20 years, providing a roadmap for the MWMC. Our current planning cycle is approaching its end, as our team expects to finalize our 20-Year Facilities Plan this fall. In the near future, the planning team expects to present to the Commission with an update at the May commission meeting. Our community members are welcome to attend and comment on the plan!

Pollution Solutions

One of the most common issues for wastewater pipes is caused by fats, oils, and grease (FOG) being washed down the drain. Grease can build up in pipes, creating clogs and blockages. It can also cause damage to pump stations that help wastewater move out of your neighborhood. That's why it's important to protect your pipes and your community's health by always collecting oil and grease and throwing it away. You can request a free FOG kit by visiting our website (click the button below)!
