February 1, 2026
Greetings Big Red Nation!
We are so proud of the many accomplishments of our students in the classroom and on their respective fields of play. Our winter sports athletes have earned a myriad of accomplishments, distinguishing our programs in the valley and throughout the state of Ohio.
Likewise, our instructional staff continues to intellectually stimulate and challenge our students, deploying innovative instruction and experiential learning activities every day. As we prepare for the home stretch of winter sports and the 3rd marking period, we encourage our students and staff to finish strong!
We also want to highlight the fact that February is Black History month. It’s important all of us take time to honor the achievements, contributions, and lived experiences of Black Americans who have shaped our nation and world. Black history is not a separate chapter of our story – it is essential to understand who we are, where we’ve been, and where we are going.
February invites us to celebrate excellence and resilience, to acknowledge struggles and progress, and to deepen our commitment to respect, equity, and understanding within our school community. To this end, we look forward to recognizing past graduates and district contributors while celebrating Black History at our annual Pathfinders event, slated for Friday, February 13th.
With the calendar flipping to February, graduation will be here before we know it. Remember that all seniors must complete a Senior Capstone project as a requirement to graduate at SHS. We will be providing information about the Capstone to seniors in the coming weeks. If seniors have questions about this or any other topic, they can stop into the guidance office for further clarification.
To make certain our seniors have the latest information, I will use senior students’ SCS Google emails while also creating a “Senior Only” Remind app group. This will allow the guidance office and I to effectively communicate with the Class of ’26 as we move toward graduation. It’s very important that seniors check these sources of information to stay abreast of important info and updates.
As we approach the second half of the 2nd semester, I encourage everyone to stay focused, stay connected, and look out for one another. Together, we will continue to learn, grow and progress together!
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. Wishing everyone a happy, healthy, and productive February. Roll Red!
Sincerely,
Mr. Newman
