Downtown Mini Golf Challenge

March 6

Get ready to tee off for a great cause and a whole lot of fun. The Downtown Mini Golf Challenge returns on March 6 for a playful day packed with friendly competition, community spirit, and sweet surprises, all inside Downtown Burlington’s Cultural and Entertainment District.

Hosted by Downtown Partners, Inc. and Burlington Black Water Mini Golf and Mississippi Moon Ice Cream Parlor, this one of a kind event features creative mini golf holes, delicious sundaes, and plenty of chances to win prizes. Teams of friends, families, and coworkers can jump in for just $50 per team and enjoy a downtown experience that is equal parts fun and feel good.

New this year, just showing up puts you in the running to win. Prizes will be drawn every hour throughout the event, and you do not need to be present to win. Play a little golf, grab some ice cream, explore downtown, and let the prizes come to you.

Best of all, proceeds from the Downtown Mini Golf Challenge support the continued revitalization of Downtown Burlington, helping fund new events, beautification projects, and public art that keep downtown vibrant and welcoming for everyone.

Spots are filling quickly, so gather your team and register soon.

To inquire about sponsorship opportunities, contact Melissa Jones at 319-208-0052 or mjones@greaterburlington.com.

Grab your putter, bring your best short game, and join the fun. It is happening in Downtown Burlington.

A big thank you to Burlington Black Water LLC for serving as the premier sponsor of this event and helping make the fun possible.

Community Comes Together to Support Thyme & Spice Company in Downtown Burlington

A powerful moment of community pride unfolded recently in Downtown Burlington as neighbors, fellow business owners, and friends came together to support Thyme and Spice Company during its move.

Captured on video, the scene shows local businesses lending a hand, neighbors carrying boxes, holding doors, and offering encouragement. The effort was informal, unplanned, and deeply meaningful. It was a genuine example of neighbors helping neighbors and a reminder that downtown is built on relationships as much as storefronts.

Thyme & Spice Co. has been a valued part of Downtown Burlington’s small business community. The outpouring of support during the move reflects the strong connections that exist within the district and the shared belief that when one business succeeds, the entire downtown benefits.

Downtown Partners, Inc. hopes the video serves as a reminder of the heart behind downtown revitalization efforts and the importance of supporting local businesses. Moments like this demonstrate that Downtown Burlington is more than a destination. It is a community built on collaboration, care, and pride.

The video highlights the spirit of cooperation that continues to define Downtown Burlington.

2026 Open 4 Business Competition

Downtown Partners, Inc., in partnership with Main Street Iowa and the Iowa Economic Development Authority, is now accepting interest for the 2026 Open 4 Business Competition.

This competitive statewide program supports for profit businesses located in designated Main Street districts and provides funding to help entrepreneurs grow and strengthen their operations.

Each Main Street community in Iowa may nominate one business to compete. Businesses that have been operating since May 1, 2025 and are currently located, or planning to locate, in Downtown Burlington are eligible to apply.

The Open 4 Business program has already made a meaningful impact locally. In 2024, Thyme & Spice Co. was awarded $26,000 to support the expansion of their olive oil and vinegar offerings, helping further activate Downtown Burlington.

A complete application must be submitted by April 1. Downtown Partners, Inc. will select one local business to advance to the June 12 semifinal judging round. From there, five finalists will be chosen to present their business ideas at the Iowa Downtown Conference in August, where they will compete for up to an additional $20,000 in funding.

Applicants are required to complete an online application and submit a three minute video pitch highlighting their business and growth plans.

Business owners interested in applying or learning more about the 2026 Open 4 Business Competition are encouraged to contact Amy Moyner at 319-752-6365 for additional information.
