President's Message

As we end February, a month that reminds us of both perseverance and possibility, I want to take a moment to recognize the incredible work you do each day in your classrooms. Your dedication to preparing students for college, careers, and life beyond high school is what makes the Long Island Business Teachers’ Association such a strong and impactful organization.
February is the perfect time to refocus, recharge, and recommit to our mission. As educators in business, finance, marketing, entrepreneurship, and technology, we don’t just teach content — we shape future leaders, innovators, and problem-solvers. As John Quincy Adams once said, “If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.” Each of you embodies that leadership every day.
I strongly encourage you to attend our upcoming Spring Conference. It’s more than just a professional development opportunity — it’s a chance to gather fresh, relevant lessons and innovative strategies that you can immediately bring back to your classroom. Just as importantly, the conference offers invaluable networking opportunities. Connecting with fellow educators across Long Island allows us to share ideas, collaborate on best practices, and strengthen our professional community.
February is also a critical time to ensure your students are registered for upcoming contests. These competitions provide students with the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge, and gain confidence to apply real-world material. Whether it’s presenting an elevator pitch, or competing in other areas like marketing, accounting or financial literacy participation empowers students to step outside their comfort zones and shine. Preparing and registering them now ensures they have the platform to excel.
Let’s continue to build momentum — for ourselves and for our students. Continue to innovate, continue to inspire, and continue to support one another. Together, we elevate business education on Long Island and create meaningful opportunities for the next generation. Thank you for your passion, professionalism, and commitment.
