An increase in airport activity means safety and coordination must be our shared priority. These procedures are being updated to reduce risk, protect pedestrians, and maintain secure access to the airfield. Please ensure all employees, contractors, and visitors understand and follow the guidelines below.

Access and Gate Control

  • Gate codes changed on Monday, February 2; updated codes were issued directly to tenants. If you sublease or are an employee/volunteer of an on-site commercial operator, please contact them directly for the code.
  • Gate codes may not be shared without authorization from Airport Management.
  • All guests, vendors, and delivery drivers must be escorted at all times (both in and out) once inside the security fence.

Vehicle Operations and Hazard Lights

  • Hazard flashers must be on at all times when driving inside the gates.
  • Support vehicles (UTVs, golf carts, tugs, etc.) must be equipped with an amber beacon or strobe at all times and must have functional headlights if operating at night.
  • Speed limit remains 15 mph and all stop/yield markings must be obeyed.
  • Do not use the ramp road as a shortcut between facilities. When moving across the airport, exit and re-enter through the appropriate gate.

Pedestrian Safety

  • Stay alert and avoid distractions such as cell phones or headphones while inside the gates.
  • Designated crossing areas along ramp road will be installed and should be utilized when practical. Please see the map below for their locations.
  • At night or in low visibility, pedestrians should use reflective clothing, flashlights, or flashing backpack beacons to increase visibility.

outside_storage_p1.png

We’d like to remind tenants to please keep areas around hangars and other facilities clean and orderly. Loose items, debris, and unapproved outside storage can create Foreign Object Debris (FOD) hazards, especially during high winds, and pose safety concerns for both aircraft and ground operations. In addition, unapproved storage can detract from the overall appearance of the airport.

Please note that outside storage is not permitted without prior approval. If you have questions about what is allowed or need to request approval, feel free to reach out to airport management.

We appreciate your cooperation and help in maintaining a safe, professional, and well-kept airport environment.

We’re rolling into another Airport Advisory Board meeting, and you won’t want to miss it! Come for the updates, stay for the donuts, kolaches, and your free airport t-shirt (if you haven’t snagged one yet).

It’s your chance to hear what’s happening at the Airport and connect with others who care about the future of our airport.

Meeting agendas are posted 1–2 days in advance and can be found here:

Good conversation, good food, and great company. See you there!

The Airport Safety Group meets quarterly and welcomes anyone interested in working together to improve safety at San Marcos Regional Airport.

These informal meetings provide a space to discuss real-world safety topics like managing increased flight training activity, minimizing vehicle access to the ramp, and identifying proactive solutions to emerging risks.

Your insights matter. Whether you're a tenant, pilot, student, or staff member, we encourage you to attend, share your perspective, and help us keep the airport safe and efficient for everyone.

Coffee’s on us. we hope to see you there!
