After a short hiatus, we're so excited to welcome everyone back to Spirit of the Mountains Camp—where summer adventures and Jewish traditions come together! SOTM is open to students of ALL religions (so yes—bring your friends! 🙌) and welcomes youth from rising 1st grade through rising 9th grade.

Each day will be packed with fun as we blend Jewish culture and crafts, cooking, folk dancing and exploring outdoor spaces through a Jewish lens. Campers will enjoy plenty of outdoor activities with hikes, classic camp games (think four-square and gaga!), and team-building challenges that build confidence and friendships. Bonus Adventure for older campers! Students rising 6th–9th grade will have the chance each week to enjoy a special overnight experience at the Gros Ventre Campground, featuring extra programming focused on connection, leadership, and time in nature under the stars - oh some S'more, too. Sign up now and get ready for an unforgettable summer full of fun and adventure!

JHJC Building Renovations Update

The JHJC received our building permit on January 12 and jumped right into construction!

Our carpentry crew has been working on floor preparations and interior wall framing. Plumbers have completed their first phase of rough-in for the new bathrooms/kitchen and water fountains.

The mechanical team has been on-site, demolishing old ductwork and adding duct runs for the new mechanical equipment. The Phase 1 package for Bulletproof Glass shipped out last week and we should see it by mid-February. Electricians and fire suppression contractors will be on site later in February to wrap up our rough-ins.

The design committee has picked out finishes and is finalizing flooring with the architects. The security subcommittee is working with the board on selecting a security company. Stay tuned for more exciting updates!

A Special Message from a Wyoming Student

Last year, as part of her bat mitzvah project, JHJC student Revi Kleyman raised money to purchase copies of the graphic novel The Girl Who Sang, written by Holocaust survivor Estelle Nadel. Estelle had visited Jackson and spoke with many local students. Sadly, she recently passed away. Revi shipped the copies of Estelle’s life story to libraries throughout Wyoming.

This lovely letter, addressed to Revi, arrived last week—a testament to the power of one person, and to our JHJC students truly changing the world!

Bet Sefer Project to support Beth Israel Congregation in Jackson, MS.

In December, Bet Sefer students held their annual Mtn. Chai Chanukah Gelt fundraiser and, after expenses, raised $2,000 in profits. They established a new fund they will manage themselves, called the Youth Tikkun Fund. Half of this year’s fundraiser proceeds ($1,000) will be transferred to this fund, and the other half will support Bet Sefer needs in our new building.

This week, the students wrote a check for $360 from their Tikkun Fund to support their youth peers at Beth Israel Congregation in Jackson, Mississippi, which was badly damaged in an antisemitic arson attack last month. They also created a beautiful work of art, with the help of artist Shannon Troxler Thal, to accompany the donation to Beth Israel Congregation (see photos below). They each wrote and decorated cards of support to their fellow students as well. Thank you, Stephan Abrams, for connecting us to Beth Israel and to everyone who purchased Mtn. Chai Chanukah Gelt—a tasty way to support Jewish youth in Jackson Hole and beyond!
