Voting Party Change Deadline
Please note that February 14, 2026, is the Party Change Deadline in New York State. the deadline to choose or change a party affiliation. Only those enrolled in a particular party may vote in that party’s primary election on June 23, 2026. If you are not enrolled in a party, you cannot vote in a party primary.
Contact the Board of Elections (BOE) to download a registration form to change or add a party affiliation. The form must be received by the BOE by February 14. If you are not a member of either of the two major parties, please check to see if your party is holding a primary. (Even though February 14 is a Saturday, the BOE will be open.)

Half Moon Bay Bridge - Frequently Asked Questions
In order to address past safety flags and inspections, the Village is moving ahead with the rehabilitation/reconstruction of the Half Moon Bay Bridge. The Village held a public information meeting on January 5, 2026 via Zoom. You can watch the meeting here.

NYS DMV Prepares for Launch of New, Modernized System
Offices Will be Closed
On Friday, February 13, all DMV offices will close at 2 p.m. Phone and online services will also be unavailable while upgrades are made to the systems. Offices will reopen and online services will resume on Wednesday, February 18. Visit the Department of Motor Vehicle website to learn more.

New USPS Postmark Practices
The U.S. Postal Service recently changed how frequently mail is transported to regional processing centers where postmarks are applied. As a result, some mail may no longer receive a postmark dated the same day it is dropped off or collected, which could be problematic for time-sensitive filings and payments.
Customers can still ensure a same-day postmark by requesting a free manual postmark at a USPS retail counter. Please consider alternative payment and filing options, such as online or in-person methods for time sensitive mail. For more information, please visit Postmarking Myths and Facts.

Tax Grievance Day Information Reminder
Tax Grievance Day is no longer held in February at the Village of Croton-on-Hudson and has been moved to the Town of Cortlandt which runs on a different schedule. The next Grievance Day will be on Tuesday, June 16, 2026 at the Town of Cortlandt. For more information about how to file and what is needed, click here.

Citizen Emergency Preparedness Training

With severe weather events becoming more frequent and extreme, it is more important than ever for residents to be prepared for emergencies. This Citizen Emergency Preparedness Training, led by the NY State Citizen Preparedness Corps, teaches participants how to prepare for, respond to, and recover from natural or manmade disasters. The course includes guidance on developing a family emergency plan, assembling emergency supplies, and taking appropriate actions during an emergency. Each family that attends will receive one preparedness kit. No fee. Registration required. Register here.

A Letter from the Croton-on-Hudson Emergency Medical Services
In 2025, Croton EMS responded to 1012 calls for service. Of this number, 891 were calls within our primary service district, and the remaining 121 were mutual aid calls to assist our neighboring EMS agencies in their districts.
In addition to responding to 911 calls, your Croton EMS volunteers donated nearly 13,000 additional hours of their time between On-Duty shifts, sporting event standbys for Croton-Harmon Schools, community event standbys for the Village of Croton-on-Hudson, training, meetings and administrative work, and a lot of housekeeping and moving into our beautiful and functional new station.
Croton EMS would like to thank our dedicated volunteer membership, very close colleagues at the Croton-on-Hudson Police Department, our fellow volunteers at Croton-on-Hudson Fire Department, and the volunteers, the tri-community paramedics, and staff at Ossining Volunteer Ambulance Corps for their service to the community.

Westchester Volunteer Higher Education Recruitment and Retention Opportunities
Due to a variety of factors, Westchester County volunteer fire departments and volunteer Emergency Medical Services (EMS) agencies are currently experiencing a critical need to recruit and retain members.
As an incentive for Westchester County residents to serve at volunteer fire departments and EMS agencies the Westchester County Department of Emergency Services (DES), has developed a program of recruitment and retention incentives for volunteer emergency services agencies. The program is designed to provide tuition or student loan reimbursement to volunteers for their service in the County.
The H.E.R.R.O. program will be administered by the Department of Emergency Services. Volunteers are eligible for up to $2,000 annually in tuition reimbursement or student loan repayment assistance. To be eligible, a H.E.R.R.O. applicant must be an active member of a volunteer fire department, fire company, fire district, or EMS agency for one year.

| | The Village of Croton-on-Hudson announced it will transition its entire municipal diesel vehicle fleet to Renewable Diesel (RD). This decision follows the successful conclusion of a three-month pilot program that demonstrated the fuel's compatibility with municipal vehicles and its significant environmental benefits. Shoveling Tips and Reminders
Here is a helpful tip on how to shovel and keep your driveway clear without a plow pushing it back in front of your driveway. Click here to watch the short video.
A friendly reminder that the Village Code requires the clearing of snow and ice from the full width of the sidewalk 12 hours after the cessation of snowfall. The Village will declare an official end time to each storm, which will be posted on the Village website and social media. Residents can sign up to receive Snow Alerts via email by registering here.

2026 Summer Camps – Save the Dates!
Get ready for another fun-filled summer!
Camp registration opens March 17, 2026, for Village Residents and Croton-Harmon Union Free School District (CHUFSD) residents. Camp applications will be available online and at the Recreation Department beginning March 17, 2026.
Additional specialty camps in art, science, and sports will be announced in the 2026 Spring/Summer Recreation Brochure, which will be available the first week of April.

Kayak and Canoe Storage Racks
Registration Opening March 10, 2026
The Recreation Department will begin accepting applications for kayak and canoe storage racks at Echo Canoe Launch and Croton Landing beginning March 10th for Croton Village and School District residents and March 30th for non-residents, space permitting.
Boating Season: April 13 – November 2
How to Apply
- Applications will be available online and at the Recreation Department.
- Available spaces are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Rack assignments are made by the Recreation Department.
- A boat sticker with your assigned rack number will be mailed to you.

Project MOVER's First Successful Phase
Project MOVER, the regional bike share program launched in Croton on July 9, 2025, concluded its first phase on December 19, 2025.
In slightly more than six months of operation, Croton generated 1,281 trips within the Village and 93 trips between Croton and another municipality, totaling 1,374 trips. Neighboring communities in Project MOVER include the Village and Town of Ossining, Tarrytown, Sleep Hollow and Dobbs Ferry.
Croton Project MOVER “hubs” are located at Metro North, South Riverside, Maple Commons, the Upper Village, Dobbs Park and the Croton Free Library. Within the entire Project MOVER region, our Metro North hub was particularly strong in attracting commuters to and from the station using bike share. Expansion is on the horizon when the bikes return in April, with Senasqua Park and North Riverside frequently mentioned as new hubs. The Village looks forward to public input on where to expand Project MOVER.

Repair Cafe: Give Your Broken Items a Second Life!

The Croton Free Library and the Croton Conservation Advisory Council (CCAC) invite the community to a Repair Cafe, a free, hands-on event that encourages fixing instead of throwing away. Started in Amsterdam in 2009, Repair Cafes help reduce waste, lower emissions, and support sustainability by extending the life of everyday items.
Volunteer repair coaches from the Hudson Valley & Catskills Repair Cafe network will assist with small appliances, lamps, digital devices, clothing, toys, and jewelry. Repairs are free, and walk-ins are welcome; however, advance registration is encouraged to help organizers prepare. Depending on demand, repairs may be limited to one item per person.

22nd Annual Teatown Hudson River EagleFest®
Date: Saturday, February 7, 2026

Location: Croton Point Park
Join Teatown for an all-day celebration at Croton Point Park as Bald Eagles descend upon the Hudson River during their annual winter migration. The program features live bird shows spotlighting birds of prey, guided bird walks with spotting scopes to view eagles, heated tents with educational displays and exhibits, crafts and games for children, food trucks, and more. A snow date is scheduled for Sunday, February 8, 2026. Please note that this event is held at Croton Point Park, not at Teatown. Specific times of shows at the event will be available on the Teatown website.

Community Blood Drive

Every month, the New York Blood Center holds a community blood drive at the Croton Free Library. To sign up, call 800-933-2566 or visit nybc.org/donate. Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins will be welcomed if space permits. Please remember to eat, drink, and bring your donor ID card or a valid photo ID.
