February 2026 Newsletter

For weeks now, our community has been deeply affected by the ongoing violence and loss of life in Iran.

At the Iranian American Women Foundation, our hearts are with the brave people of Iran. We stand with our sisters and brothers and honor their resilience and strength in the pursuit of freedom and fundamental human rights.

As an organization representing Iranian American women, we condemn the inhumane violence and loss of life that continue to devastate Iranian families. Mothers, wives, sisters, daughters, partners, and loved ones are left mourning those who sought dignity, freedom, and basic human rights.

This suffering is unjust and unacceptable, and it must stop.

We stand in solidarity with those who grieve, with those who resist, and with all who demand an end to this violence and a future rooted in humanity, justice, and accountability.

Shiraz Arts Festival (1967-1977)

Presentation by Dr. Mahasti Afshar

On January 11, 2026, guests gathered at the Beverly Hills Public Library Auditorium for an engaging afternoon presented by the Luminary Series, exploring the legacy of the Shiraz Arts Festival (1967–1977). The program featured a presentation by author Dr. Mahasti Afshar, offering a thoughtful journey through one of Iran’s most influential international cultural events.

Through her presentation, Dr. Afshar highlighted the festival’s groundbreaking programs in music, dance, drama, and film, showcasing contributions from artists in Iran and around the world. Her insights illuminated the festival’s lasting impact on cultural exchange and artistic innovation. The afternoon was thoughtfully guided by Master of Ceremonies Shahrzad Ardalan, who helped frame the discussion and its historical significance.

The gathering served as a meaningful reflection on artistic legacy, cultural dialogue, and the enduring importance of preserving shared history.

We extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Afshar for sharing her knowledge and perspective, and to all who joined us for this enriching experience.
