Hi all,
Hope you are all doing OK in this extreme cold we've been having. It does make it feel right for watching the Winter Olympics which you probably know is currently taking place in Italy.
There is a lot of snow and ice outside, so a little reminder to take care to watch your step and try to walk on shoveled and salted walkways and pavement. No falling please! If you do have to shovel snow, take a common sense approach by not loading too much on the shovel and by pushing the snow instead of lifting it. Bend at your knees more than ay your waist when you lift the shovel, and avoid twisting and throwing the snow a long way. Take the extra time to walk the shovel over to where you want the snow to go. Thinking a little about what you are doing and being self-aware goes a long way in keeping you out of trouble. That being said, if trouble does find you I am here to help!
This month's newsletter is a good one! The article "Laughter is the Best Medicine" is justification for when I may tell you one of my "dad jokes." Laughter is good for your health, but that is assuming my dad joke is funny... The article about vitamin K2 explains that because it improves mitochondrial function, it was found in a research study to dramatically improve VO2 max in aerobically trained athletes. VO2 max is closely correlated with longevity in older adults. Lastly, "Your Easiest Health Upgrade" gives 3 detailed reasons why walking is so good for you. Use it for motivation to either go out for a walk or to get on a treadmill and take a big step toward better health.
Stay well and be happy!
All my best,
Dr Dave
