Announcements

The Library will be closed on Monday, February 16th in observance of Presidents Day.


It’s that time of year again when we talk about that word people either love or loathe: SNOW! In the event that we have to close due to inclement weather, we will post on Facebook as well as the local news channels. Don’t forget—we have LL Bean snowshoes to lend out.


Welcome to Romancelandia!

If romance is what your heart desires, look no further than this month’s display! We have all the romantic subgenres you could think of. If you don’t see a particular title you're interested in, please feel free to ask- we can always borrow it from another library! 


From the Director

Thank you all for coming to the film screening of The Librarians on January 31st. It sparked some wonderful conversation. If you missed it, it is streaming on PBS beginning February 9th. I think the key takeaway was that everyone has the right to choose what they or their family read. It’s the Library’s responsibility to provide materials for members of our community.


In the coming months we’ll begin developing the Library’s strategic plan. It’ll help guide what we do, ensure the library grows with our community, and chart a path for the future. We’ll be reaching out with surveys and invitations to listening groups and we hope that you’ll participate. What are we missing, what are we doing right, and what can we do moving into the future? It’s your voice that we need to hear.

Children's Programs


Weekly Programs


Mondays

Baby Rhyme Time at 10am & 11am. Babies under 3 and their grown-ups meet together with Miss Sheila for 20 minutes of rhymes, fingerplays, songs, movement, and board books. 


Lego Builders Club at 3:30pm in the Children’s Room. We provide the Legos and the challenge. Your creations will be on display for the whole week! 


Thursdays

Sensory Story Time at 10am for ages 3-6 incorporates a visual schedule and sensory activities to support neurodiversity.


Monthly Programs


Homeschool Meet-Up on Friday, February 13th at 10am. Experience a day in the life of a Colonial Servant at the Sanford-Springvale Historical Society. Registration is REQUIRED for this program. Click here to register now!


Make-it/Take-it Craft on Wednesday, February 11th come by the Children's Room any time between 2-5pm to make your Valentine's craft! 


It’s Time to Bundle Up and Read!


The Winter Reading Program continues through March 7th. Suggested for ages 2-13. Finish 3 backpack bundles to earn a book and a treat. Pick up your free book and treat during prize week, March 2nd-7th.


Each backpack bundle has books, puzzles, and activities based on a theme. Due to the extreme popularity of this program there will be a limit of two (2) bundles per family. Extra activity sheets will be available if needed.
 
 
 

Adult Programs


Weekly Programs


Knit Lits meets on Tuesdays from 3:00-4:30pm in the Williams Reading Room. All fiber artists are welcome.


Cribbage meets on Tuesdays from 1:00-3:00pm in the Williams Reading Room. Everyone who wants to play is invited to join!


The Dulcimer Group meets on Tuesdays from 5:45-6:45pm and is open to new and beginner players and singers. They play and sing hymns and traditional folk songs on Mountain Dulcimers in a simple style.


Weekly Game Night meets on Wednesdays at 5:00pm in the Williams Reading Room. Bring a game and make new friends!


Monthly Programs


Cook the Book meets on the second Tuesday of the month at 5:30. The group will be meeting on February 10th to share recipes from Good Things and Nasson Club Recipes. (This program is currently full. Please call or visit the library to be added to the waitlist.)


Sam’s Book Club meets on the first Wednesday of each month at 5:30pm in the community room. On Wednesday, February 4th we will be discussing The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas.


Adult Valentine Craft on Wednesday February 11th at 5:30. Lesley will be guiding you through a heart shaped string art project.
