February 2026
Lower Providence Library News!
| | |
Hello Friends!
I hope that you are all cozy and safe in this extreme winter that we are having! Winters like this are a great time to be a library member. Whether you are bringing your kids for an indoor outing to fight cabin fever, picking up a puzzle to work on, or restocking your book selection to get you through the winter blues, we have what you need to get to the other side of this winter.
This month, we have a major building update happening. Starting February 16, our 16 HVAC compressors will be replaced over two weeks. This is a much-needed update to our infrastructure. During the week of February 16 through February 20, there will be no programming to allow the HVAC company use our community room to store the new units while they are being replaced. Regular programming will resume on Monday, February 23. We appreciate your patience and understanding while we have this necessary work done!
Many of you noticed that our online catalog was updated in January, and we are very excited about this upgrade! The new catalog allows us to customize the home page carousels to meet the needs and tastes of Lower Providence Patrons. The new configuration groups all available formats of a title for one-stop searching and provides regularly updated graphics for all items in the catalog. To familiarize yourself, there is a "Take a Tour" button on the homepage, and of course, library staff are here to help you get acquainted with the new site.
We hope that you grow to love as much as we do!
Thank you all for your continued support and patronage of the
Lower Providence Community Library!
It is an absolute honor and privilege to serve this wonderful community
year after year.
Happy reading, and see you at the library!
Marija Skoog, Library Director

Upcoming Programming Disruptions!
During the week of February 16th to 21st,
There will be long-awaited HVAC work that needs to
be completed at the library.
Unfortunately, this means that all programs for adults and children are cancelled for that week. The library will remain open for browsing and operate under normal business hours.
Please read the following newsletter carefully; changes are noted on affected programming.

A brief reminder from our Friends of the Library:
We're ALWAYS accepting book donations!
The Friends of the Library (FOLP) wants to remind everyone, cleaning out after the holidays, that your used books are always welcome for the used book sale!
The Used Book Sale (located in the back right of the library) directly helps the purchase of new materials and sponsors fun things around the library. The Friends raise thousands of dollars a year thanks to donations like yours!
Donations can be made at any time during library hours and must be brought inside the library. We ask that you place your donations under the tables in the book sale area. The Friends meet on Mondays at 2:00 pm to sort and organize the sale area.
To learn more about Book Donation Guidelines, click here.
For safety and sanitation, book donations left outside cannot be accepted and will be thrown away.
