Earthquake Preparedness Month

The Illinois Emergency Management Agency's preparedness theme for February is Earthquake Preparedness. “Creating an environment of education, awareness and preparedness will save lives in Illinois,” said Alicia Tate-Nadeau, Acting Director of the Illinois Emergency Management Agency. “While we cannot predict when the next major quake will occur, we can help people learn how to protect themselves and reduce damage to their homes.”
According to the FEMA, "Preparing for earthquakes involves (1) learning what should be done before, during, and after earthquakes; and (2) doing or preparing to do those things now, before the next quake. School preparedness requires the participation of administrators, teachers, students, and parents, as well as those who design, build, regulate, and maintain school buildings."
