"I know you're tired. But come, this is the way."
The Rev. Alix Klingenberg
"I know you're tired. But come, this is the way." How can we combat compassion fatigue so that we can stay healthy and grounded while we do the work of social change?

Our Guest Minister, The Rev. Alix Klingenberg, is an entrepreneurial UU minister, writer and spiritual director. She writes a blog called Highly Sensitive Extrovert and uses creativity and archetypes to connect to community and the divine. A graduate of Oberlin College and Meadville Lombard Theological School, Alix has served in various capacities in the Chicago, San Diego, and now the Boston areas. Some of Alix's passions include photography, tabletop games, tarot, and the Enneagram.
Sunday Morning Childcare . . .
The childcare room is open and offers a safe, play oriented environment for children 4 and under. If no one is able to staff the room on a given Sunday, parents are welcome to supervise their children in the room during worship. If you have any questions, please contact the Director of Community Life and Learning at mlapointe@uucgl.org .

Meet the UUCGL Pledge Team
at Fellowship Hour February 23
It is pledge season and you might be wondering about many things. Where does the UUCGL budget money come from? Where does it go? Why should I pledge? When should I pledge? Where will Tom Brady be playing quarterback next year?

Members of the UUCGL Pledge Team (Michael Celona, Cliff Charney, Ruth Griffin, Gloria Kozlosky, and Steve Young) will be available at Fellowship Hour Sunday February 23 and we will do our best to answer these and any other questions you might have. Hope to see you there.
Pledge Sunday - March 8
Our annual Pledge Sunday will take place on March 8th. During the service, you will be invited to place your pledge card in the pledge box. After the service, the Pledge Team will be hosting an extra special Fellowship Hour. We hope to see you there!

Climate Change & Faith Wednesday Speaker Series
Our Speaker Series continues on Wednesday, February 26 at 7:00pm

Please join us for the second in our 3-part series exploring how our faith calls us to respond to the climate emergency.

Salem State University Professor Marcos Luna will present a talk entitled "Climate change is a social justice issue: What it means for the North Shore." Learn how climate change is not just an environmental catastrophe, it is an ethical and political crisis that falls hardest on those who are least responsible and most vulnerable. Moving toward a just and sustainable future requires that we recognize these disparities and that we bend our efforts at mitigation and adaptation to work in solidarity with the needs and concerns of those communities that have the most to lose.

There will be an exhibit on "Mapping Climate Change on the North Shore" in the Skylight Room for viewing during the talk. Please also mark your calendars for the next talk in the series on April 1 on climate change impacts on flora and fauna. This series is sponsored by the Green Sanctuaries Ministry Team and the Swampscott Conservancy.

Faith Development Programming
Parenting With Purpose Begins March 6 at 5:00pm
Announcing a new monthly program for those parenting and their families. Parenting with Purpose (PWP) will create a safe space for those engaged in parenting to discuss a variety of topics related to parenting in a way that best espouses our unique Unitarian Universalist values and our commitment to helping one another raise healthy and happy children. Whether centered on a collective reading or hearing directly from those who work with children, the program aspires to remind those parenting that they do not walk alone.

Meetings will begin with an all ages potluck at 5pm followed by separate, structured programs for young children and for those parenting at 6pm. The first meeting of this new programming will be March 6 in the Parish Hall. For more information, please contact DCLL Mark LaPointe at mlapointe@uucgl.org .
