Welcome back, Lisa!
Peabody Book Fair

The Peabody Bookworm Central Book Fair is all set up for next week and it looks absolutely amazing!  We unpacked 66 boxes of books today and put them all on display in the library. We are convinced there is truly something for everyone!

We have board books, picture books, easy and beginning readers, middle readers, chapter books, young adult titles, books about science, archaeology, history, biographies, weather, animals, and sports. There is an entire table devoted to graphic novels!  We have activity and workbooks, French books, Spanish books, a basket of bargain books, cool educational games, and more!

Please come out and support the Book Fair next week.  Preview days are  Monday and  Tuesday for you to stop in, take a look around, and start thinking about your choices.  Sales will run  WednesdayThursday, and  Friday - including during Game Night ( 6:30-8:30).  We will be in the library each day from  8:00-2:45 to help you and - this is a change -  in the library during Game Night continuing the sale. On sale days we will accept cash, checks made out to Peabody School, and credit cards. Each child will create a Wish List during a Preview Day to share with you. They will return later in the week to make their purchases, or you can accompany them at a different time.

We are also collecting Teacher Wish Lists.  We will have a binder of the lists that are submitted to us.  In the event you are interested in purchasing a gift book for your child's classroom, we can point you in the right direction and will have book plates to personalize your selections.

We can't wait for you to see how awesome this is!

Fall Athletics - Basketball News
What an amazing basketball season! Both the boys and girls basketball program this year were monumental for many reasons.

Peabody revived the girls basketball program this year after a long hiatus and they had an amazing season. I have coached basketball for many years and the one thing I have always shared with every team is that it is always about the process, never the outcome. This season with the ladies was a true embodiment of that statement. We had a team full of young ladies with very little experience. However, what they lacked in experience they made up for with enthusiasm, hard work and a ton of competitiveness. The joy of seeing our ladies compete and want to get better each game was very exciting to watch.

I certainly hope that each of our young ladies enjoyed their experiences this year and will continue to participate in the game of basketball.

Thank you Coach Ana for your dedication and commitment to our girls. I am well aware of the fact that without you we would not have had a team this year.

As for our young men, we had an equally outstanding season. This year was our first undefeated season since 2007-2008! The guys demonstrated a level of teamwork and unselfishness that was to be admired at any level of basketball, but especially at this age. This team was full of veterans and newcomers to the game of basketball, but with each game they played, the men showcased their growing knowledge of the game as well as their sportsmanship.

We had more than our fair share of close outcomes, but the team always encouraged each other, never got down on themselves and always played their hearts out. To hear their words of encouragement with each other both on and off the court is what team sports is all about.

I look forward to coaching most of these guys next year and watching some as they continue their basketball careers at the high school level.

Thank you for your continued support of the athletic program. It has been a real pleasure coaching basketball this year.

Go Panthers!
