February 24, 2020

Most of the work is now complete!

Thank you to everyone who has purchased tickets, brought in items, underwrote expenses, worked on acquisitions, volunteered on the committee, and given so generously of your time.

I wanted to remind everyone of the importance of this year's Springfest: VISION 2020 as we kick off fundraising towards our contribution for the school remodel beginning in May 2020.

The overall campus renovations, including a Preschool, are projected to be $2,812,500, of which  Shea Homes has granted us $2,250,000.   Our fundraising efforts will focus on the remaining $562,500.  This is an incredible gift to receive these campus improvements at only a 20% cost to us.

With a very grateful heart to Shea Homes and to our OLPH community, on behalf of our students, faculty, and staff, I personally invite you to join in VISION 2020.

Lots of fun and exciting items will be available for auction.

TICKETS ARE STILL AVAILABLE.
Please  purchase tickets tonight if you haven't already done so.

Thank You for your support!
Donna Lauro

CELTICS IN MISSION LENTEN OUTREACH

Once again this year we will be partnering with Mary Hill Primary School in Uganda. Our schools will pray for each other and learn from each other this Lent and beyond. OLPH students and families will have the opportunity to pray for, sacrifice, and give to this new Catholic school and its students.

Students received Hearts of Hope T-shirts during Lent last year and are welcome to wear them again this year during the Fridays in Lent.  Anyone who has outgrown their shirt can purchase a new one.  New students will receive T-shirts in the next few weeks.  Additional information will be coming soon.

SHARE THE GOOD NEWS AND BE REWARDED!

This spring, we're encouraging you to tell others about our wonderful  school. Recruitment is a large part of our ability to continue to provide  top notch education and programming to your children. But we can't do it  alone. We need your help! When you complete one positive review on each of  the below sites, you will receive a $25 DENNIS Uniform gift certificate.

When complete, please email Mrs. Lauro to let her  know. This gesture is one small way that we can say thank you for trusting  us and allowing us to educate your children.

ACCREDITATION UPDATE

One aspect of our school improvement process every year is an in-depth study of one particular area of the curriculum. As part of our self study this year, we have chosen the Math program as the focus of our in-depth study. By examining our Math curriculum in grades K-8 and analyzing our students' assessment data, we are able to evaluate the effectiveness of our program and to identify areas for continued improvement.

Much has been accomplished in our Math program in the six years since our last accreditation. The school met the critical goal of developing a clearly articulated math curriculum map. The curriculum map has allowed the school to track what students are learning at all grade levels, to identify the program's strengths, and to identify its gaps. The school added Star Assessments  to determine what students already know and what they are ready to learn next, to monitor student growth, and to determine which students may need additional help.

We continue to offer the Math in Focus curriculum, IXL program, DIBELS screenings, before and after school homework help, and the support of full-time math-resource teacher.

Current data is showing that these additions, along our instructional methodology, have improved our students' learning and achievement in Math. We will continue to implement new ways of using data to differentiate and drive our Math instruction for increased student learning.
