Upcoming Drone Training Through WIU

Drones are quickly becoming one of the most prevalent tools to help first responders and school officials create a safer school environment. Drones can provide vital information when conducting school security assessments, in addition to helping have better situational awareness during drills and exercises as well as during an actual crisis.
The Western Illinois University (WIU) School of Law Enforcement and Justice Administration and the WIU GIS Center have scheduled two FAA Part 107 training events. Part 107 is an Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) certification by the Federal Aviation Administration that is mandatory for practitioners and students to be allowed to use drones and drone related technology in any professional operations in the area of public safety, including natural disasters, emergencies, and search and rescue.
