The Arizona Department of Economic Security (DES) is the state’s human services agency, and is available on-site at the Human Services Campus to provide Nutrition Assistance (also known as SNAP), Cash Assistance and Medical Assistance, as well as Vocational Rehabilitation services.
- Nutrition Assistance provides monthly benefits to eligible participants to purchase food.
- Cash Assistance helps families meet their basic needs through temporary cash benefits.
- Medical Assistance, also known as AHCCCS or Medicaid, provides medical insurance coverage to low-income individuals and families.
- Vocational Rehabilitation provides services and supports to assist job seekers with disabilities meet their employment goals.
In FY2020, DES completed 11,442 clients visits at the Campus for assistance.
Additionally, the DES State Homeless Coordination Office supports the Human Services Campus in its efforts to shelter and serve individuals facing homelessness, while working to help them on the path to self-sufficiency. Working with community partners enables DES to provide individuals and families with the broad assistance they need to reach their potential. More information about DES can be found at des.az.gov.
