Monthly Partner Spotlight:
Arizona Deptartment of Economic Security
The Arizona Department of Economic Security (DES) is the state’s human services agency, and is available on-site at the Human Services Campus to provide Nutrition Assistance (also known as SNAP), Cash Assistance and Medical Assistance, as well as Vocational Rehabilitation services.

  • Nutrition Assistance provides monthly benefits to eligible participants to purchase food.
  • Cash Assistance helps families meet their basic needs through temporary cash benefits.
  • Medical Assistance, also known as AHCCCS or Medicaid, provides medical insurance coverage to low-income individuals and families.
  • Vocational Rehabilitation provides services and supports to assist job seekers with disabilities meet their employment goals.

In FY2020, DES completed 11,442 clients visits at the Campus for assistance. Additionally, the DES State Homeless Coordination Office supports the Human Services Campus in its efforts to shelter and serve individuals facing homelessness, while working to help them on the path to self-sufficiency. Working with community partners enables DES to provide individuals and families with the broad assistance they need to reach their potential. More information about DES can be found at des.az.gov.

We Need Your Help at our Next Bottled Water Drive on March 6th
Our next bottled water donation drop-off at 15th Avenue & Harrison is Saturday, March 6th from 9am to noon, and it couldn’t be easier. You pull up and our staff will remove the donations from your vehicle. Call Ivan Orozco at 602-282-0849 or email volunteer@hsc-az.org for more information.

While the HSC and our Campus partners are always in need of bottled water, the pandemic required us to start our ThirstAid campaign early this year. CDC guidelines for distancing and sanitation prevent us from offering refillable water stations. Therefore, we need your help to provide water for our collective clients.

You may also contribute online and help us purchase water in bulk at https://donorbox.org/hsc. Thank you!
Episode 3 of
The McQuaid Mission
on the
SOCIAL TELEVISION NETWORK
The Social Television Network (STN), in conjunction with the Human Services Campus, has launched an online show called the McQuaid Mission. When Mike McQuaid passed away from COVID-19 in July, Arizona lost a significant community leader. As president of the Human Services Campus (HSC) Board of Directors, Mike and several community leaders brought organizations together to create a multi-faceted approach to end homelessness in Phoenix.

The McQuaid Mission is a series dedicated to continuing Mike’s mission to end homelessness. Hosted by STN’s Chris Coraggio and HSC’s Executive Director Amy Schwabenlender and airing every other week, the show will explore the issues, efforts, progress and solutions surrounding homelessness in Maricopa County. Each episode will include community, business, and philanthropic leaders and service providers who are committed to working collaboratively to end homelessness at a regional level.
Episode 4 will be airing on Monday, March 1st! Click Here to View All Episodes.
