City Council’s Strategic Goals and Objectives – Meeting March 5th
Mayor Burks and our new city council have agreed on this year’s Goals and Objectives.
The Goals include:
- Maintain local control on land use issues.
- Define the City’s core values that represent Lafayette’s character.
- Develop a community transparency & inclusion strategy.
The Objectives include:
- Emergency training preparedness – wildfire planning
- Broaden senior community inclusion
- City–School collaboration
- Develop a strategy to expand City support of local businesses and commerce & to increase the vibrancy of downtown Lafayette
- Address traffic congestion and mobility issues
On March 5th Mayor Cam Burks and Councilmember Susan Candell will host a kick-off meeting to begin the dialogue on how the City can support local businesses. The meeting will be in room 240 at the city offices beginning at 7:00pm. We plan to have a robust discussion and the public is welcome to participate. Downtowns and retail is rapidly changing. Your participation will be very valuable in looking towards the future.

Without much fanfare, California passed a new Independent Contractor designation in May of 2018. For most businesses who use independent Contractors, this means change. But understanding what seems to be scary new rules makes implementing the change much easier. Join fitness studio owner and business consultant Katie Santos to learn the process she uses to help clients make the change in their businesses.
