This Weekly Update by the Illinois School and Campus Safety Program shares guidance from the Illinois State Board of Education on updated calendar coding, links to resources for Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month, and promotes the upcoming virtual classes on understanding and planning for school bombing incidents, digital threat assessment, advanced digital threat assessment, and incident response to terrorist bombings.

ISBE Shares Updated Public School Guidance on Calendar Coding

The Illinois State Board of Education shared updated calendar coding information on their Coronavirus webpage. The document provides calendar codes that can be used for in-person learning disruptions caused by COVID-19, including codes for remote learning days, E-learning days, not in attendance days, and emergency days. The document also provides the descriptions, conditions for use, available number of uses, and whether or not the day must be made up.
Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month

February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month (TDVAM). LoveisRespect has included a TDVAM page on their website that includes an action guide, calendar of events, and a social media guide. Additionally, the Illinois School and Campus Safety Resource Center website shares resources on Teen Dating Violence as well as resources for other forms of interpersonal violence on the K-12 and Higher Ed Interpersonal Violence pages.
There's Still Time to Register! Understanding and Planning for School Bombing Incidents on February 16th via Zoom

The Illinois School and Campus Safety Program is pleased to announce the class "Understanding and Planning for School Bombing Incidents" will be held on February 16th from 8:30 am-12:30 pm via Zoom. The Understanding and Planning for School Bombing Incidents course is specifically tailored for prevention and response to school bombing incidents. For more information and to register, click here.
Digital Threat Assessment on February 28th via Zoom

The Illinois School and Campus Safety Program is pleased to announce the class Digital Threat Assessment will be held on February 28th from 9:30 am-4:00 pm via Zoom. Digital Threat Assessment training will enable participants to establish a framework to better assess all threats by constructing and considering the digital baseline of a threat maker by locating, documenting, and evaluating social media data through a threat assessment lens. A significant portion of the day will be spent engaging in hands-on exercises on the most prevalent social media platforms and associated search applications. Incident Response to Terrorist Bombings on
March 4th via Zoom

The Illinois School and Campus Safety Program is pleased to announce the class "Incident Response to Terrorist Bombings" will be held on March 4th from 8:30 am-12:30 pm via Zoom. The Incident Response to Terrorist Bombings course focuses on response protocols to situations involving all types of explosives and/or threats pertaining to the criminal use of explosives.
