Dear LNC Families,

Tonight, the LNC Board of Education voted to return K-12 students to hybrid learning (plan B) beginning Monday, February 8. Students will follow their cohort schedules, attending school for in-person learning two days a week. We will post the updated cohort calendars to Schoology tomorrow morning for your reference. This does not affect our students who are distance learning, as they will continue school entirely from home. All students who are currently distance learning will have the opportunity to return to hybrid learning at the end of the third quarter (Friday, March 12).

Additionally, after careful deliberation on the part of LNC administration, the Safe Schools Committee and the board, on Monday, February 22, the elementary school will begin transitioning students (starting with kindergarten) out of their cohorts to attend school four days a week (plan A). Our elementary school families can expect an email tomorrow with more details, including information about transitioning in or out of distance learning. Remember that under Governor Cooper’s executive order, only elementary schools are permitted to operate under plan A at this time. We remain steadfast in our commitment to return all LNC students to our school buildings, where they learn best, once it is safe to do so.

Finally, the board approved a modification to our current year school calendar, making Friday, February 12, Friday, March 12 and Friday, April 23 regular school days. They were previously scheduled to be remote learning or half days. We have attached the updated calendar to this email and it can also be found on our website.

Tomorrow morning we will post the link on Schoology to watch the board meeting. Thank you for your continued support as we traverse this challenging year together.
