New Traffic Pattern Set at Main Street / Rt. 14

New turn lanes opened to traffic at the intersection of Route 3/14 and Route 17 Business (Main Street) in Gloucester County Thursday afternoon. The project still has 12 days of final construction activities to go -- paving and sidewalk work -- but will be finished by Wednesday, Feb. 17.

In the meantime, travelers can enjoy dual left turn lanes and dual right turn lanes when turning from Main Street onto Route 3/14. And, a new turn lane pattern approaching Main Street from Route 3/14. This SMART SCALE-funded project should reduce delays and improve pedestrian travel in Gloucester's Main Street corridor.

RCC Scholarship Application Deadline Approaching

Rappahannock Community College has over $400,000 in scholarships available to students, full or part time, who will be enrolled at RCC in the 2021/2022 academic year. Applicants simply complete one on-line application form to be considered for over 300 scholarship awards.

The average scholarship is $1,561, which is significant considering that the full-time tuition at RCC per year is $4,700. “Our goal is to make higher education at RCC affordable and accessible to everyone by assisting as many people as possible,” says Sarah Pope, Executive Director of the RCC Educational Foundation and VP of College Advancement. “The Educational Foundation is grateful to have generous scholarship donors who realize the value of education and helping others access an affordable education.”

In the 2020/2021 academic year, over 300 students received scholarships. They included single parents, recent high school graduates, adults returning to school, with various backgrounds and educational pursuits. Each expressed the same sentiment—the generosity of donors was instrumental in helping them fulfill their education goals.

The scholarship application for the 2021/2022 academic year is open until February 19, 2021.
For more information and to access the online application, visit www.rappahannock.edu/scholarships or call Scholarship Specialist Beth Robins at 804-333-6708.
