ZEV Street Sweeper Display

February 12 - CA State Dept. of General Services - Sacramento


Join NorCal Clean Cities and Municipal Maintenance Equipment to “Drop-in-and-View" the RAVO R5e Zero-emission Street Sweeper on February12 from 12noon to 2pm at the California State Department of General Services, 1700 National Drive, Sacramento, 95834. The sweeper and subject matter experts will be on hand to answer all your questions. 

 

The RAVO R5e is a mid-size 100% electric street sweeper with a five-yard hopper, designed for full-shift operation. It is capable of operating 8-10 hours on a single charge. The R5e has been in service for several years with fleets in the U.S. and internationally. At an industry-low 64 dB outside the cabin, the R5e makes early-morning and late-night shifts viable, all without emitting any CO2, Nitrogen Oxides or Particulates.

HVIP Reopened


CARB’s HVIP program reopened on December 16 at 9am. A program addendum has been released that has important program changes that impact voucher eligibility and requirements including:


  • Eligible fleets can use HVIP vouchers to purchase Class 2b pickups
  • Clean Fuel Rewards can now stack with HVIP for Class 8 truck purchases

  • Locally and regionally focused environmental education grants 
  • $200,000-$250,000 each, up to 16 grants nationwide

Cal EPIC Wins $4M CEC Grant


The California Energy Commission has awarded $4M to Cal EPIC to Launch First-of-Its-Kind EV Charger Testing and Interoperability Lab in Sacramento. The grant, in partnership with the Korea Electrotechnology Research Institute (KERI), and Momentum, is to build and operate a new test lab for EV charger research and development, standards, and vehicle-to-everything innovation.

It's 2026 and that means Government Fleet is now accepting applications for the 2026 Public Sector Fleet Manager of the Year. This award recognizes an individual who has excelled in managing a fleet operation over the past year. The last day to submit nominations is Friday, March 6, 2026.

Ford has announced the new president of Ford Energy Storage. Lia Drake has stated that the Energy subsidiary allows Ford to “maximize the value of [its] battery manufacturing capabilities.”

Newsom’s Attacks on Gasoline Supplies


Governor Newsom has taken several steps that will dramatically increase gasoline prices in California. He has directed that all oil production in the state be eliminated by 2045 and he has increased regulatory pressures on oil refiners causing them to leave the state. Predictions are that gasoline prices will rise to over $8/gallon.

President Trump Endorses E15


President Trump has called on Congress to make 15% ethanol in gasoline a year-around standard as a major boon to US farmers.

Tesla to Discontinue the Model S and Model X


Elon Musk announced that Tesla will discontinue producing the Model S and the Model X in Q2 of 2026. Tesla will reallocate the factory resources previously used for these models to the production of the Optimus humanoid robots.

Pilot Travel Centers Installing Tesla Semichargers


Pilot Travel Centers will install 1.2MW Tesla Semichargers along portions of I-5, I-10 and some select high traffic corridors in California, Nevada, New Mexico and Texas. Each site will have between 4 and 8 charging stalls.

Tesla Semi Upgrades


Tesla has upgraded the Semi, improving the efficiency 15%, achieving 1.7 kWh per mile and maintaining a 500-mile range. Tesla expects to ramp up production of the Semi in Q3 of 2026.
