Sixth Sunday after the Epiphany

Kid Vestry

Two Sundays ago, we gathered for our annual meeting to hear about what 2022 looked like for The Falls Church and the kids did the same! Children's Ministry gathered in Nicolson Hall while the Annual Meeting took place in The Parish Hall to hear their annual report.

We also spent time dreaming about the future of the Children's Ministry together. We spent most of the meeting conducting a gift-mapping exercise with the children. We asked these questions:

  • What should the church look like?
  • What should children's leadership look like?
  • What should Children’s Ministry look like?
  • What should we learn about in Children’s Ministry?
  • What gifts (spiritual, talents, and material) do you have to give?

I was proud of the thoughtful responses the children gave to each question. We will use this feedback to help shape the 2023-2024 Program Year.

Finally, we concluded our meeting by building the first Kid Vestry, lovingly nicknamed KV. 12 children volunteered to be on our KV. This March, the KV will begin meeting to tackle budgets and program development. They will also have opportunities to partner with our Adult Vestry to learn about church governance and to dream together about the future of our church.

Please pray for us on this adventure! I also ask that you keep your eyes open for opportunities for children to lead in your ministries, and lives. Finally, this Lent, come to Children Led Services and support our incredible KV! We will have Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, and Easter Morning services that our children will lead us through. Please come, bring yourself, your family, and bring a friend. All ages are welcome!

Preaching on Sunday February 12: Cory M. Irwin, Ed.D.

Postulant, Diocese of Indianapolis

Can you spare 10 minutes at noon on a Tuesday to help us count our weekly offering?

In the interests of transparency we are returning to our pre-COVID practice of asking a member of the church to join a member of staff in counting out weekly offering(s). This takes just 10 minutes and everything you need to know will be taught there and then. If you are able to support in this simple way please sign up for one of the Tuesdays on the SignUpGenius. Any questions please email Ellie.

Coffee Hour Contributions

The Coffee Hour team is in need of food donations to supplement the weekly offerings. Please consider bringing a sweet or savory item to church with you on Sunday morning to be served. Dishes can be dropped off in the kitchen prior to the service. Please, no nuts.

If you plan to bring something to share, please email Dave Schranck.
