1 - Booster Gala was a Huge Success!
The Winston Churchill Booster Club held its Annual Gala on February 2, at Bar Louie! It was a smashing success from the totally casual vibe to the top-notch silent auction and our 50/50 Mascot raffle. With about 200 people in attendance, including over 20 coaches, we had a wonderful evening to catch up with our old friends and strike up conversations with friends we may only see in the bleachers during “the season”. Our principal, Brandi Heckert, and our Athletic Director, Jesse Smith, were in attendance as well as other familiar faces from the WCHS Community. This event is our largest single fundraiser of the year with all proceeds going towards funding the needs of the Athletics program and our student athletes. Please stay tuned for details about next year’s gala and 2020 Hall of Fame inductions. Thank you to everyone who participated in setting up and running the event, especially co-chairs Karen DePirri and Georgina Feigen, and thank you to everyone who attended, sponsored, or donated to our gala. The Winston Churchill High School Booster Club appreciates all of the support for our BULLDOGS!

2 - Student Athletes of the Month
Congratulations to our December Student Athletes of the Month, Ziad Bandak and Giulia Baroldi ! The Swim & Dive teammates swept not only the voting for December but they also did so in the pool.  Ziad won the 200 free and was second in the 500 free against Walter Johnson. He is currently ranked #1 and #2 in MCPS in the 200 free and 500 free. Giulia  won the 200 IM and 100 back against BCC. Great job by both!
3 - Girls Basketball tied for Division Champs!
4 - Swim Teams Rule at the Divisional Meet
Congratulations to our Boys Swim Team for earning first place in the Division. They swam to the top spot by beating the second place team by 81 points! Way to go, Bulldogs!
The Girls Swim Team had impressive performances by everyone but just couldn't squeak out the first place finish. Congrats to the Lady Dawgs for a great season!
5 - Bulldogs Qualify for States in Track & Field

6 - Spring Sports Registration is Open!
The online registration window for Spring 2019 sports at Winston Churchill is now open! Below is information that parents and students need to know.
Here is a memo from MCPS on the online registration process:   MCPS Memo .

How do I register for Spring 2019 sports?
PARENTS may register students through the   myMCPS Parent Portal . Registration should be done online by  February 27th  to ensure that it is processed in time for the student to be able to participate in tryouts on the first day.
What if the parent needs login information (Access ID & Password) or to add a student to the parent account?
Parents may contact the Counseling Office (301-240-740-5420) or the Athletic Director,  Jesse Smith  for login information.
Will the student need a Physical Clearance Form (Physical)?
Yes, students need an up to date physical to participate in athletics. If a student already has a physical on file at the school, it is good for one calendar year. Otherwise, the student will need an updated physical, completed by a physician. Parents can download the  Physical Clearance Form . There are two ways to submit the Physical Clearance Form:  1)  by scanning it and emailing it to WCHS Athletic Director,  Jesse Smith  or your teams coach  2)  by handing in a paper copy to the coach before tryouts.
What if I completed the online registration process for the Fall 2018 or Winter 2018-2019 season at WCHS?
If a parent registered a student online in the Fall or Winter, the parent must complete the registration process again for the Spring 2019 season. The good news is that most of the information entered in the previous season will have saved and will be pre-populated, which will make the process easier in the current season.
Does MCPS have more detailed directions for how to use the myMCPS portal and register online?
Yes! More detailed directions can be found  here .
Where can I find information about tryouts at WCHS?
Information about tryouts can be found on the Tryouts post on the WCHS website. For most spring sports, tryouts will begin on March 1st. More sport-specific information, such as tryout times and schedules and coach contact information can be found on this page.
When will game/contest schedules be posted for the 2018-2019 school year?
Schedules are currently on each teams page on the  www.churchillathletics.com  website.
7 - Wrestling just short of the Division Finals
Despite have a great season, the Wrestling Team fell just short of the division title, losing to BCC, who they beat last year for the top spot. But the Gentleman Dawgs have much to be proud of and were honored, along with their parents, during Senior Night on January 29th.
