Missouri recognizes school boards

Carl Junction honored their board of education last month, in conjunction with the state of Missouri, for School Board Recognition month. The Board was served a catered meal complete with desserts made by teachers, and they were presented with a stack of thank you letters from students.
Serving on the Carl Junction Board of Education are: Lisa Knutzen, president; Larry Cowger, vice-president; Dr. Glenn Coltharp; Claudia Cox; Christie Hutcheson; Frank Pittman; and Travis Spencer.
These board members are unpaid public servants, elected by the community members.
The community is invited to attend the meetings held the fourth Monday of every month at 6:30 pm in the Instructional Services Center. The next Board of Education meeting is scheduled for February 27. Visit our Carl Junction Board of Education website.

Freeman donates AED

As part of an ongoing partnership Freeman Health System donated an Automated External Defibrillator to Carl Junction Schools. This unit is located at the Junior High School. There are now three AED units strategically located around the Carl Junction campus.

Many staff members across the district have been trained in cardiopulmonary resuscitation but having an AED unit available in case of a cardiac event greatly increases the patient's survivability.
