National CCAA Counselor Corner (CCC):
Important Winter Updates For You
|
|
We hope the eighth edition of the CCAA Counselor Corner (CCC) finds you warm, healthy, and well. Winter is upon us and many of us, including those of us at the National CCAA Headquarters in Ohio, are currently experiencing freezing temperatures, snow, ice, and snow days. We've enjoyed seeing the pictures of many of our beautiful National CCAA member campuses covered in snow (like the above picture from University of Notre Dame, during a rare snow day on February 2) and can't help but feel a bit jealous of the beautiful sunny days and palm trees we've seen at other member campuses (we feel a little warmer just looking at the above photo of Saint Leo University's campus).
Whatever weather you're currently experiencing, we know this is a time of year that is filled with many different emotions for your students and their parents--the excitement of receiving acceptance letters, the disappointment of receiving unfavorable admission decisions, and the stresses of how to make their dream school a reality with scholarship offers and financial aid packages being released. We know that juniors are also starting to knock on your doors as they're beginning to focus more on their college searches.
In order to help make your job a little easier, our winter edition is full of some important reminders including the dates for two upcoming Virtual Counselor Town Halls, which will be full of helpful information and answers to your questions about the current state of Catholic college admissions. Keep reading to also find out important details about the 2022 National CCAA Scholarship application, which we hope you'll encourage all of your seniors to apply for, and for some exciting updates and changes to our e-newsletter, board of directors, and growing list of member colleges and universities.

Introducing the Transfer Corner
|
|
We are pleased to introduce a new permanent feature in the CCC Newsletter, the Transfer Corner. This section will be devoted to sharing information and resources that will be helpful when working with transfer students.
National CCAA Board Member Cathy Anderson (Director of Transfer Admission, Le Moyne College) will be chairing our soon-to-be-launched Transfer Taskforce. The goal of the Transfer Taskforce will be to come up with initiatives to help counselors on both sides of the desk to better serve the transfer student population.
In each CCC Newsletter, this "corner" will feature topics devoted to transfer students, including details about our newly established National CCAA Transfer Scholarship (stay tuned for more information and an official announcement coming later this spring).
If there are any topics you'd like to see covered in an upcoming Transfer Corner section of our e-newsletter, please email the Transfer Taskforce.
