CSA Player Spotlights

Meet some of our awesome Altitude development and club athletes.

CSA Black

Savannah Herrera:

CSA Black Player Spotlight goes to Savannah “Savvy” Herrera!

This girl is always smiling and always asking to be challenged. She grows stronger each and every practice in her defensive skills and serve receive. Recently, Savvy has expressed interest in becoming an offensive threat as well and with her go-getter spirit, there isn’t anything stopping her from accomplishing her goals. She’s a great athlete and a great teammate to all! Proud of you, Savvy! - Coach Erica

CSA Red

Taleah Opetaia-Te’o:

Taleah is CSA Red’s spotlight player! She plays right side, and while hitting is her main job, her serve receive is a force to be reckoned with! Taleah's work ethic sets her apart. Her coachability and proactive approach to seeking guidance make her an absolute delight to have on our team. Witnessing her growth over the initial two months of the season has been very impressive – a testament to her dedication. Her first serve in a game resulted in an ace! I can’t wait to see where this season and the rest of her volleyball journey take her. Great job Taleah! – Coach Alex

CSA Teal

Clara Brinton:

Clara has demonstrated outstanding positivity on our team, and always shows up eager to grow and learn! Clara continues to enhance her volleyball skills by asking questions along with consistently practicing the fundamentals. Clara is an excellent team player as she is always cheering on her teammates with lots of smiles and joy! She has shown great adaptability on the court while learning positions and jumping in wherever needed. Clara is a true inspiration to work with, she is excelling fast with her skill level and continues to improve with her zeal! - Coach Sarah

CSA 13 Silver

Constance Scherff:

13S chose Constance as their spotlight player. She is such a Go Getter! Her skill set, leadership and energy are constant contributions to this team. We love what she brings and are excited to see what the future holds for her. Keep working hard! - Coach Melissa & Coach Kaitlynn

CSA 15 Silver

Makari Cooper:

Makari is a setter for 15 Silver. She has been a bright spot on our team due to her positive attitude, encouraging personality, and teamwork. She comes to practice with a smile on her face and a great work ethic. She gives 100% to everything she does. She has grown a lot in her setting by applying what is taught to her in practice, attending setter workshops, and learning on her own. Makari is a visual learner; she takes time at home to watch videos of herself and others to better understand the game and how she can apply that. During tournaments, Makari is a huge motivator for her team regardless of whether she’s on or off the court. You will often hear her lead or participate in cheers in effort to keep her teammates on a positive path. We have utilized Makari in multiple positions and situations, and she is always willing to help her team in any way. She is versatile, athletic, and team spirited. Thank you for your dedication to our team and the sport. We very much value you on our team. - Coach Freddy & Coach Tracy

Recruiting Tips & Tricks

Research schools and create a list...

Do the research and cast a wide net when looking at schools! Start by contacting a lot of college coaches—around 20–30—and then dwindle the list over time. Here’s how we recommend organizing a target list.

  • 5-10 safety schools: These are schools athletes know they’ll be able to play at and for which they qualify academically. Athletes need to get in touch with these coaches early on so the coach knows they’re genuinely interested. Many athletes find that programs they never considered originally ended up being their best college fit.
  • 10-20 target schools: This is where recruits can put the schools that are their best match, athletically, academically, and socially. In other words, these are the schools that a recruit wants to focus on in their recruiting.
  • 5-10 reach schools: These schools might be out of a family’s price range or they might be very competitive academically or athletically. Athletes should add them to their list as a great goal to strive for.
