Since September 2022, the Mt. Pleasant Area Chamber of Commerce has been working to build off our century-long history of helping businesses prosper to strategize how to serve our members and the community in the years to come. In doing so, we gathered data through our Membership Survey to learn what our members thought about our strengths, opportunities, and aspirations. Our Board of Directors participated in a prework survey, and the staff and board did an in-person work session that focused on the current state of the Chamber, benchmarking, and our vision.
It has been a priority to keep our membership informed every step of the way during this process. I am proud of the work we’ve accomplished and the direction we are going. This month, our Board of Directors approved our new vision, mission statement, and strategic initiatives.
Our VISION is to be the center of a diverse, vibrant, and economically prosperous business climate.
Our MISSION is to foster economic vitality by supporting and strengthening our business community.
Our Strategic Initiatives are:
- MEMBER ENGAGEMENT & SUPPORT- A growing and thriving membership engaged in supporting business success
- COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT & ADVANCEMENT- A strong voice for business in the community
- INFRASTRUCTURE- Capacity to manage current and future needs
Our next steps at the Chamber of Commerce are implementing our work plan by cultivating growth, convening people and ideas, educating our business community, and collaborating with strategic partners. You have already seen some of these initiatives take form- whether it’s in the form of an email to update you on the current legislation that impacts businesses or to inform you about the workforce through our partnership with the Great Lakes Bay Michigan Works!, the restructuring of our events, or the introduction of new programs and committees.
