Engaging Families Through Shared Perspective

 

I recently met up with Birgit Walker to discuss the transition from a parent receiving FAST Forward Wraparound services for her youth to becoming a Family Peer Support Specialist. As a Family Peer Support Specialist, Birgit is now an essential part of the FAST Forward team delivering wraparound services and providing the lived experience perspectives to families. 

“Wraparound was a big deal and changed a lot of things,” said Birgit. Even if you have good friends, if they don’t have the same experiences, then they don’t understand the full scope.”
