February Climate Solutions Caucus Round-Up

Dear Stakeholder,

Please see below for highlights from February and a preview of what’s to come.

February Engagement:

Caucus members met with the Chamber of Commerce and industry partners on permitting reform.

  • In late February, six  members of the Caucus joined the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and industry partners, including American Clean Power, the National Mining Association, Laborers’ International Union of North America, and the Interstate Natural Gas Association for a discussion on the current landscape of permitting reform, sector-wide priorities, and pathways for bipartisan compromise and legislation in the 119th Congress.

Caucus staffers met to discuss reconciliation and clean energy tax credits.

  •  In mid February, staffers met to learn more about the process of reconciliation and discuss considerations for IRA clean energy tax credits throughout that process. Staffers were joined by experts who (1) have been through several reconciliation processes and (2) could address the connection between the energy tax credits and securing U.S. critical energy infrastructure.

  • Staffers gathered once more in February, for a briefing on the Business Council for Sustainable Energy (BCSE) and BloombergNEF’s Sustainable Energy in America 2025 Factbook, which examines the performance of clean energy sectors over the last 10 years. Staffers were joined by a panel of industry partners, including CRES Forum, NET Power, and the Copper Development Association, to discuss insights on energy data and trends.

Looking Ahead:

Members plan to meet at the end of March to discuss U.S. energy and manufacturing dominance, supply chains, and raw material availability.

Caucus staff plan to discuss data center buildout efforts and considerations alongside the Data Center Coalition.

As always, stakeholders are encouraged to approach the Climate Solutions Caucus with priorities and engagement ideas as the 2025 programmatic calendar develops.
