“Remember that you are dust, and unto dust you shall return.”
|
This week we celebrated Ash Wednesday which marks the beginning of our Lenten Season. As we reflect on these words we see how fragile life is, which we have witnessed firsthand over the past year. Lent is our time that we begin again as we seek to be reconciled to God.
The season of Lent provides us with the opportunity to redefine our choices, to focus our vision and intensify our relationship with God. This is the path to eternal life: from ashes to Easter.
There is no better time than this season of Lent to reflect deeply upon the state of our souls and to willingly embrace our faith, in all aspects of our lives.
St. Brigid of Kildare has prepared a variety of activities to help you make the most of these 40 days. Please see our Lenten booklet which was mailed to you this week. Take the time to tune into our virtual services and events.
During these dark winter days continue to look out for each other; I have seen many in our parish family struggling mentally and physically with sickness, depression and isolation. Please continue to pray for your St. Brigid of Kildare family and I will continue to pray for you. I look forward to the time when we can once again celebrate as a community of faith.
Sincerely in Christ,
Rev. Msgr. Joseph M. Hendricks

Disciple Maker Survey is Open
|
The Disciple Maker Index Survey is open and we are asking for your help! Please help us participate by completing a 10-15 minute survey as soon as possible.
-
Online: Go to https://portal.catholicleaders.org/dmi/survey/kkdyx221y6 (or find this link by visiting www.stbrigidofkildare.org and search “survey”)
-
Paper: If you prefer to complete a paper survey, you may pick up a copy at the parish office during regular business hours, 8:30am-4:00pm Monday-Friday, or print at this link. Upon completion, the survey should be placed in a plain envelope, marked: ATTN: Survey, and either mailed to P.O. Box 3130, Dublin OH 43016 or dropped off at the parish office(to keep survey anonymous).
The survey will only be available from February 17, 2021 - March 21, 2021. This survey will ask you to reflect on your own spiritual growth and enable you to provide feedback on our parish’s efforts to help you grow. All responses will be confidential and the parish will only receive information about the community as a whole.
We are trying to get the highest response rate possible. This information will be invaluable to Monsignor Hendricks and our various ministries as we plan for the future and strive to be the best disciples we can be. We will receive the results this spring/summer at which time we will share what we have learned with the entire parish.
Thank you for helping with this important project!

Run/Rest: Lenten Devotionals
|
Stress. Anxiety. Chaos. Hustle. Worry. Busyness. These are words you might be thinking about, talking about, and regularly experiencing.
It sometimes feels like we are stuck running a race to get things done, be the best, to befriend everyone, to do everything, and to earn everyone’s approval. Sure, it is good to have goals, but sometimes all of that running can burn us out.
We all know what it is like to feel physically tired, but some of us might be feeling tired in more than just our bodies. When we spend so much time running from one thing to the next, we can find ourselves emotionally and spiritually drained as well.
Physical, emotional, and spiritual exhaustion isn’t the kind of life Jesus came to offer us. Jesus came to give us a life that’s full, not of worry or hustle, but full of joy, peace, hope, and abundance.
If you’ve felt a little tired recently, this Lenten social media series - full of prompts for prayer and reflection - are for you. For the remainder of Lent, what do you think could happen if you made it a habit to rest in God’s presence and truth? If you want to keep running, you’ve got to learn how to rest.
Follow St. Brigid High School Youth Ministry on Instagram @brigid_youthmin for the Rest/Run daily prayer prompts and reflections.

Moral Considerations Regarding the New COVID-19 Vaccines
|
The Vatican, USCCB, Ohio Catholic Conference of Bishops, and National Catholic Bioethics Center have created informational statements regarding the morality of using some COVID-19 vaccines, namely those approved for emergency usage in the United States. Below is also an infographic summarizing the church's stance on the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines currently approved in the U.S.
In summary, the vaccines are acceptable for the faithful to take. Future vaccines (AstraZeneca, not approved yet in US but approved in UK, for example) will need to be evaluated separately.
Click below to read more about the rationale for these vaccines.
