Lenten Activities at St. Brigid of Kildare Parish

St. Brigid of Kildare Parish will be offering many activities, prayer services, speakers and bible studies during Lent.

Click the image to the right to view the full page flyer of all of our Lenten activities.
Seven Last Words Bible Study

When we read the four Gospel narratives that tell about the death and crucifixion of Jesus, we find that Jesus spoke seven times.  We will use the gospel passages and the book Seven Last Words by Father James Martin to pray and reflect upon what these words from Jesus mean for us today.  We will be invited to turn to Christ completely in mind, heart, and soul. Jesus' final statements, words that are deeply cherished by his followers, exemplify the depth of his suffering but also provide a key to his empathy and why we connect with him so deeply.

Thursdays, March 7, 14, 21, 28 and April 4 and 11.
Afternoons 12:30 PM or Evenings 7:00 PM in Immke Room.

You can order the book through Amazon. No registration is necessary, all you need to do is come. -Sister Teresa

Congratulations Eagle Scouts

St. Brigid's own, Boy Scout Troop 117, is celebrating the rise of three new Eagle Scouts!

Congratulations Joey Queen, Zachary Tuza, and Derek Maschmann, on the culmination and success of years of hard work!
PRAYER as a Lenten Practice

We generally think of prayer as something we read, say, or listen to. But prayer can also be a visual experience. Images can often evoke rich nuance and meaning that cannot be replicated in words. Similarly, art can bring another dimension to prayer, because it taps into and draws forth from our religious imagination.  One way to use art reflection is to use a piece of art created by someone else and let it draw us into prayer.  The other is to create our own piece of art that is drawn from our own prayer and reflection.  We will be doing the latter.

Join us on March 13 as parishioner and artist Dawn Petrill guides us through the process of creating our own art through prayer and reflection.  Dawn says of herself, "I have a passion for discovering inspiration in life and translating it into art."  Dawn will guide each of us through the process of creating our own art through reflection.  We will be using paints so wear casual clothes.  Space is limited to 25 people, so register early.  March 13 th  at 7:00 PM in Hendricks Hall - Berry Room.  Cost is $20 (will cover all materials).  Register by March 6 through the link below or by coming into the Parish Office.

Project Magi Success - Thank You!
Thank you so much to our generous parishioners at St. Brigid from the Social Action Committee!

It is always a joy to see the results of such kind and giving hearts. We so appreciate the hundreds of coats, gloves, scarves, hats, clothing, and toiletries that were gathered during Project Magi last month. Welcomed deliveries were made to Gladden House Food Pantry, J.O.I.N., Starhouse, and Bishop Griffin Center. Please continue to pray for those in our community who struggle with this winter weather.

Email Scam with Monsignor's Name

There is an email scam that has continued to go on with Monsignor's name on it. Someone has made up multiple email addresses using variations of Monsignor Hendricks's name, then sends emails to parishioners and staff members asking for a favor. The intent of this person is to get money or gift cards. If you receive an email like this, please delete it and do not reply. We are blocking these email addresses, but the person keeps creating new ones.

If Monsignor ever reaches out to you via email it will be from his St. Brigid of Kildare email address ([email protected]), so please ignore emails from any other address you may receive.

In case this person would move on to impersonating other staff members, you can review our real staff email addresses here: http://stbrigidofkildare.org/our-staff/
