Welcome to our LBPD Newsletter!
As we continue into 2020, we want to remind our community that the LBPD takes all threats of violence very seriously whether they come in the form of text messages, social media posts, or emails. We will continue to respond to each threat to determine which are real and which are unsubstantiated.
Making a threat to commit a crime which can result in death or great bodily injury is illegal. Parents and schools should encourage students not to make poor choices that might have a serious impact to their future. Unsubstantiated threats cannot only have legal consequences for the person posting, but most importantly it redirects law enforcement resources from investigations addressing real crimes which inadvertently result in severe emotional stress to family members and potentially targeted individuals and/or places.
Parents, talk to your children about the responsible use of social media. Together we can prevent unfortunate incidents and continue making Long Beach a safe City for all!

The Department will continue to take a proactive approach to target illegal gambling activity taking place in the City, which can often lead to other violent crimes. Detectives have been working with property owners of addresses where this type of activity is occurring and our other City partners, such as the Financial Management Department’s Business Licenses Division, to address these issues and hold all those involved liable to ensure this type of activity is prevented
We urge residents and business owners to continue to report any suspicious activity, and with the partnership from our community, we will continue to take appropriate enforcement action when necessary.
Anyone with information regarding illegal gambling activity is asked to contact LBPD Vice Investigations Detectives at (562) 570-7219. Anyone wishing to remain anonymous may call 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), or text "TIPLA" plus your tip to 274637 (CRIMES), or visit
